An impressive shot from Tajumulco, a volcano in Guatemala, won over our photo competition judge, Guardian picture researcher Karin Andreasson, this month.
Here's what Karin had to say: "Some lovely pictures this month but my cursor keeps pulling me back to Ellen-Mary Pullar's 'The sunrise from Tajumulco, 4,220m'. It's just so spectacular and there's something magical and otherwordly about the symmetry. Either a lot of luck or some serious patience, both pretty useful when taking pictures, was needed. Well done Ellen-Mary."
A congratulatory slap on the back and a hearty handshake to Ellen-Mary, who scores an enlarged canvas print of her winning image courtesy of
Point 101. The rest of our April favourites can be seen in our
gallery.
Fancy having a go at next month's competition? This month's contest is a New York special (a bit different from the usual free-for-all) - so if you'd like to enter the May photo of the month competition, send us your best New York photo (it needs to be a minimum of 630 pixels wide or 500 pixels high), and you'll be in to win. It doesn't need to be a recognisable Big Apple shot - photos of hidden corners and general New York life, or any other aspect of the city you've captured, will be just as eligible to win.
Entering the photo of the month competitionYou don't have to be an expert to enter the competition - all travel photos are accepted as long as they're at least 630 pixels wide (for landscape shots) or 455 pixels high (for portrait format). A shortlist of the Been there team's favourite entries will be published as a gallery each month on the Travel site.
To be in with a chance of winning next month's prize, take a look at our
