Every week a reader gets a chance to put a travel question to the Been there community. Check out how this works

This week's question:
My husband and I are both freelance media types suffering the grim
realities of the credit crunch. As we're short on work, we're looking to get out of London to stay somewhere cheap and sunny for a few weeks. We're looking for a charming, simple beach hut/accommodation in a stunning location that has both peace and quiet but a bit of life not far away. Crucially, we also need easy access to the internet. Any suggestions?Rachel
Essaouira in Morocco should be high on your shortlist:
It's close - couple of hours flight (and on Easyjet).
It's outside the Euro zone so still affordable. When I went a couple of years the seemingly endless seafood barbeque at one of the little shacks next to the castle ramparts came to around £5...
The beach is a firm favourite for wind and kite surfers, and if this isn't your thing, the cafes in the medina will ply you with mint tea for hours as you watch the world pass by. And internet cafes are plentiful.
Enjoy!
Henry I would recommend Lindos on the Greek island of
Rhodes. You can take a direct cheap flight from London to Rhodes and then coach or taxi to the town of Lindos. Once there you will not want to leave. No motor vehicles are allowed in Lindos as the alleyways are way too narrow – so you'll end up walking everywhere. There are two gorgeous little beaches on each side of the town and an array of tavernas, internet cafes, shops etc. It's the perfect place to just “be” and not do much. Also - when we were there in August last year we couldn't believe how quiet it was, seeing it was peak-season. My friends, who go every year, said they'd never seen it so quiet – so I think there are some very good deals to be had on accommodation.
Have a great time.
LenaGoa would be the obvious choice; it's peaceful in the right place with nightlife minutes away and has the infrastructure required for internet etc.
If they are interested I have the name of a good friend who is a media type himself but also runs a business arranging holidays in Goa.
Cheers,
MattI would suggest
Hossegor on the west coast of France. It's easy to get to by train or car and it's a surfing paradise. Pretty laid back, loads of cheap surf-style accommodation going and as it's in France there's loads of delicious food. The one problem is you may well get hooked on the surfers' lifestyle, which means goodbye to Blighty for ever!
