London postcards on a rack

When was the last time you took a 10-minute diversion through a park instead of rushing headlong from A to B? When will you find time to take a proper lunch break and visit that exhibition before it ends? Or take the train to the seaside for the day instead of doing the weekly shop?

We tend to overlook the jewels on our doorstep in favour of pursuing the far-flung and the exotic. We feel we need to buy ourselves time and space and distance to really relax and enjoy things. Yet we miss so many exciting tricks by waiting for the right conditions to present themselves.

In the Guardian's Enjoy England supplement, we’ve tried to make things easier by breaking down time into enjoyable chunks. But obviously we can't do it all on our own.

So it would be spiffing if you could share your jolly English tips with one and all.

You can post on any or all of the time frames. So:

10-minute treats
Lunchtime adventures
A night on the tiles
Day trips
Weekend getaways
Week-long trips

Brockwell lido on a sunny day? Probably a day trip that tip. Settling into a tipi in East Sussex? Go for weekend getaway. Picking up a second-hand book in Hay-on-Wye? Easily done in a lunch hour.

Here are some fab tips we've had for 'a night on the tiles':

This 24-hour diner on the promenade is the city's late-night mecca,
with hungry night owls packing the tables from pub closing until the
wee hours. As well as the ass-day breakfast, the usual starchy
essentials needed to soak up an evening's imdulgence are offered:
pizza, burgers, Jacket spuds. In summer the front windows open to
allow the sea breeze in. In winter the place fills with the smell of
frying and the chatter of party-goers determined to eke out their
night on the tiles.

Four-nights-a-week topical comedy show. Very close to the bone and
possibly libellous humour! The Canal Cafe Theatre is in a great
location above the Bridge House pub in Little Venice, which is a
gorgeous, off the tourist rat-run part of London.

etc, etc. Squire.

Once you've decided where your tip fits, simply go to the post a tip page and getting tipping. Great fun, eh what?
