This month's winning photo was taken by
Joe Burton on the shores of
Lake Tekapo in New Zealand's South Island. It shows the Church of the Good Shepherd, which sits on a peninsula jutting out into the lake. Joe himself says it's an "inspiring place caught somewhere between God, the lake and the mountains" and, whether you're a believer or not, it's hard to argue with the startling serenity of the image. The church appears like a last outpost of salvation on the periphery of an awesome, almost polar, landscape. Its isolated situation seems an open invitation for travellers to stock up on spiritual credit before venturing any further into the unknown.
Joe's image will be blown up and scanned on to a canvas block by
Point 101.
