Gavarni Hotel - A green hotel in Paris
Posted by Parisien
Hotel Gavarni is an old-fashioned-style hotel in the chic 16th arrondissement in Paris.

The owner is green and he wants his hotel to be the same. That's why organic food is served for breakfast, the water from the showers is recycled, the staff is trained to save detergent and water and so on...

Petit Moulin
Posted by briefcaseboy
Forget the big stuffy international hotels and book yourself into the Christian Lacroix designed Petit Moulin in the Mariais. It is a charming little hotel in a 17th century building that used to be a boulangerie and still has the old signage. There is wireless internet in all the rooms, and you are right in the heart of a very trendy district full of design shops and art galleries – getting into town isn’t difficult and the extra minutes spent traveling are well worth it for staying in such an original place, with none of the hollow impersonality of larger hotels.

Hotel des Arts & Cafe des 2 Moulins (Montmartre)
Posted by NicolaCraine
On a quiet side street halfway between the Moulin Rouge and Sacre-Coeur, the Hotel des Arts provides a comfortable base from which to explore 'Amelie's' Montmartre and beyond.

Fans of the film will recognise many of the locations: Monsieur Collignon's greengrocer's shop on rue des Trois-Freres; the metro stations of Abbesses and Lamarck-Caulaincourt; rue Saint Vincent and, of course, the majestic Sacre-Coeur with its stunning views across Paris.

Skip breakfast at the hotel and instead head down rue Lepic to Cafe des 2 Moulins, where Amelie worked. Sit and watch the world go by over a coffee and croissant. We did just that and witnessed a commotion in the street outside as a fire engine arrived, sirens blaring, to put out a fire at the butcher's shop opposite. When asked if he realised that the rotisserie oven had set fire to his shop awning, the butcher rose briefly from his seat in the cafe, peered through the window, shrugged his shoulders in true Gallic style, and returned to his newspaper and glass of house red (and it was only just after 9am). At that point, we half expected Mlle Poulain herself to come breezing through the door...

La Tour d'Auvergne Hotel
Posted by Jojopi
This hotel is very convenient and very friendly. I stayed there when I went to Paris for a concert and wanted to stay near the venue. The hotel is near La Cigale and the Elysée Montmartre concert venues and a few steps aways from main Paris attractive sites.

St Christopher's Inn
Posted by robble1
This is a great hostel – pretty new and just ten minutes on the Metro from the Eurostar at Gare du Nord. They’ve got private rooms, dorms, free WiFi, an internet café, a bar, a sauna and a soundproof nightclub in the basement too!

The guys on reception told me it’s on the same canal where they filmed Amélie and that the building’s a remake of the old nineteenth century warehouse - Magasins Généraux, which burnt down in 1990.

On foot you can reach the Buttes Chaumont Park in no time and also the Parc de la Villette, which includes the Science Museum.

From the hostel itself you can organise bike tours, walking tours, a Paris induction, basic French language classes and day trips to places like Versailles, and Giverny.

A must visit hotel: the Hotel Eldorado in rue des Dames, close to Place de Clichy. A wonderfully colourful, bohemian experience of a hotel. One of Paris's delightful surprises.

Clos de Medicis hotel
Posted by Jonathan Black
After many stays in mediocre and cramped hotels we've finally found the one for us - Clos de Medicis in the 5th, just five minutes' walk from the Luxembourg RER station - itself 4 stops from Gare du Nord.

From Eurostar to hotel in half an hour. It's a great area too, many good restaurants and walking distance to the Ile de Paris, Louvre, Marais - well everywhere really. Very friendly and well designed hotel - just a gem.

The Terrass Hotel in Montmatre is a fantastic hotel - service, food and staff are all superb in this beautiful region of this most romantic city.

Take the lift up to the 7th floor and onto the roof terrace in the evening and watch the Tour Eiffel light up in the evening surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the Parisian skyline.

On a relaxed and warm summer's evening, there's nothing better!

Le Lys B&B
Posted by RachelFentem
Le Lys is a unique B&B in a 17th century house in the atmospheric Marais district, a stone’s throw from Notre Dame and the Centre Pompidou.

Stéphane and Jean’s elegant home is stuffed with antiques and paintings, and the generous breakfast is a delight, but it is the warmth of their welcome that impresses the most.

By the time you leave, you will be firm friends, and your experience of Paris will be all the richer for it.
