This appears, at first glance, to be a scattering of autumn leaves, but on closer inspection is revealed to be the fluttering of hundreds of butterflies (that’s a rabble, collective noun pedants).
Stephanie Webster’s winning photo captures them congregating on a path on the Brazilian side of the Iguacu Falls. Visitors to this impressive and violently wet attraction often find themselves surrounded by multitudes of the tiny, colourful butterflies – there are more than 300 different species in the region.
Stephanie's image will be scanned on to a canvas block by
Point 101.
