Travel photography, discussion and inspiration
Been a bit of a hiatus in the old Flickr Friday when it came to my attention that we had no archive function on the blog so previous articles were simply being pushed off into the ether by newer ones.

But that's by the by. This week we have 26-year-old Matt Paish who used to work as a local newspaper reporter (so trust me, this lad's paid his dues) and now spends his time developing his photography talent and travelling the world. As you can tell from the colourful shot below, his talent is certainly on the up.

You can see his Flickr photostream here.

If you're new to our weekly photography knees up come on in and join. Our Flickr group is Been there photos where you can share your shots and get inspired by some of the great talent.

Or if you've got an image you'd like to share and discuss but aren't on Flickr (and why not?) - pop it over in an email: been.there.photos@guardian.co.uk

And if you fancy seeing other images in the Flickr Friday series you can do so by clicking here.

Man and granddaughter in Udaipur

I took this shot in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

I was wandering through the city's backstreets when I came across this colourful character and his young granddaughter sat outside their home.

I asked him if he would mind having a photo taken and he jumped at the chance. I told him that he and his daughter were a photogenic pair.

He joked that his face would break my camera if I took a photo, and then ruptured into a fit of laughter. His granddaughter was completely non-plussed.

I quickly grabbed the camera to capture the laughter and confusion with a quick shutter speed. I took around a dozen shots in quick succession and this one stood out. I think it captures both nicely.

While traveling, I love taking people photos. In a lot of places, people are accustomed to having their photos taken but in many places they're not, and you never quite know how they're going to react when you put a camera in front of them.

I love the spontaneity
of it all and being able to capture moments that I can link to memories.

Nothing brings back a good memory like a photo does.

So far on my trip, I have traveled across Europe and taken the trans-Mongolian railway to Beijing from Moscow, and I am currently traveling around India. I spent a month traveling around Rajasthan.
