We had the best stay of our entire trip around Argentina being looked after by Juan at La Escondida in Mendoza City.

He sent us to the Vines of Mendoza tasting rooms, it was phenomenal and his restaurant recommendations were flawless.

We also went on a wine tour organised through a travel agent at the rail station and separately went to visit the Escorihuela winery where we had a private tour and were even invited to their evening tango party!

    Ruca Malen Vineyard

Posted by MissPease 3 June 2009

Ruca Malen is a wonderful vineyard in Mendoza in the most beautiful setting. We had an enthusiastic and informative wine tour followed by a five course meal with matching wines. We enjoyed an amazing lunch sitting on the dining terrace with an outstanding view of the Andes. One of the most memorable meals of my life.

The backdrop of the serene Andes mountain range and the wind in my hair as I travelled by bike from vineyard to vineyard was the jewel of my experiences on my trip to Argentina's wine captital: Mendoza. Perfect for the budget (and eco) tourist. You get to sample great wines for next to nothing and you get guided tours, beautiful food and that superb scenery on the way. Be careful not to imbibe to much until the very end. You still have to cycle back!

    El Aguamiel hotel and winery

Posted by PronBoy 28 May 2009

This is a fantastic boutique hotel in the middle of Argentina's wine country. Set in the shadow of the Andes. Beautifully designed buildings and rooms (the owners are architects) and a personal, tailored service make staying there feel like a very simple experience. I found it to be the most relaxing place I have stayed on my whole trip round the country. The hotel is very quickly picking up a dedicated fanbase and the owners are starting to produce wine for the exclusive benefit of their guests. I'll definitely be going back for a bottle or two!

Terrazas de Los Andes can be found in one of the most picturesque places in South America. I travelled through Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil, and Mendoza has to be one of my favourite places from my visit. The winery itself is incredibly tranquil, set in the mountains, away from main roads, you can't help but lose yourself there. We were given a very informative tour around the winery and then sat down to the most delicious three course meal, each course accompanied by a different wine. We spent the entire afternoon there, chatting over the wine, enjoying the food and ended up snoozing on the swinging hammock in the garden. I would recommend visiting between January and February when it is lovely and warm.
