The Secret Garden B&B is run by John Fernandes and it's a wonderful place. It's very private, with only three rooms, and everything is taken care of with personal touch. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast provided is generous and good.
The location is also very strategic, comfortably nestled among a housing area, but within walking distance to restaurants and shops.
John is a very hospitable host. He took us around the town, gave us good advice on places to eat and visit, and ensured that we are comfortable and have everything we needed, including helping us to arrange for transportation. He also invited us for evening happy hour so we could meet and chat with him and other travelers.
The Secret Garden B&B is a really good find with reasonable price. Don't miss it!

What a perfect stay at a lovely B&B located on the Argentinian border close to Iguazu Falls. It is run by a remarkable gentleman, John, who goes the extra mile to ensure the comfort of his guests, including personally providing a tour of the local area, recommending eateries, in addition to arranging for transportation to and from the airport and the Iguazu Falls site. Lovely tropical gardens surround the rooms which are clean and charming, providing very comfortable beds and up to date amenities. John also hosts an evening cocktail hour where guests can meet and mingle - to share stories and travel tips and to relax after a day of sight-seeing. Thank you John for making our stay in Iguazu so pleasant and for taking such great care of us at the border.

My wife and I spent a magical three days in Iguazu at John's Secret Garden B&B where we relaxed in tropical splendor and warm comaraderie with John and fellow guests. A highlight of our travels in Argentina in 2012.

Everything you read about the Secret Garden is true. We arrived at the B&B and met the wonderful man John Fernandes, the owner, who exudes such genuine warmth and kindness. Our room had a queen and twin bed in it and private bath, spacious, bright, clean and well appointed The walls and ceilings are all tongue and groove woodwork painted in warm tropical colors. The beds are firm with pressed cotton sheets and lots of pillows that are fluffy and fresh. Large and quiet A/C unit and a large standing room fan gave us lots or ventilation options. There are only three guest rooms that open out onto a communal sitting area that connect to the main house by a elevated walkway through the tropical garden. If you believe in the power of attraction that like attracts like, then the Secret Garden is a classic example of this. John has created an environment where an evolved man is attracting other evolved people from around the world to share his space and his enthusiasm for his corner of the world. In short we met the most interesting and delightful people at the B&B. John does a very nice cocktail hour for his guests at 7pm and creates a delightful ambient environment for people to connect and share their world with others. At breakfast there was lots of fresh tropical fruit, banana bread and good strong coffee with hot milk, toast, home made jams and fresh squeezed juice. John also took the time to give us a little drive around town and dropped us off at Bocamora Grill for lunch. This is where the corners of Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina meet and you get to see it all from the terrace of this great restaurant and have a wonderful meal to boot. If you are going to Iguazu falls, then this is definitely the place to stay. I will never forget my stay at the Secret Garden.

Before we went to The Secret Garden last month, I was somewhat sceptical as to how anywhere could have elicited so many wholly favourable remarks. But there's absolutely no doubt at all: for us the Secret Garden lived up to every possible expectation.
From the very first moment that John shows you round town and then offers a cooling drink, through the excellent (and seemingly endless) caipirinhas, tapas and snacks in the early evening, to the extremely generous and tasty breakfasts with home-made jams, and the lovely evening conversations with John as a charming host: it is an entirely delightful and special experience.
John's advice on how best to divide your precious time in Iguazu - as well as on restaurants, transport or any other question - can be followed unhesitatingly.
We spent three full days in Iguazu and enjoyed our time enormously. Even the after-effects of a huge tropical storm that wiped out some two-thirds of a precious day was leavened by John's generosity and our fellow guests' company.
The staff who cannot do too much to help, bouncy Roxy the Jack Russell, the chalet room that has everything one could want, the lovely garden ... and, above all, John. Truly a very very special experience.

Secret Garden is a small B&B of only three rooms. The host John could not have done enough for us. He picked us up from the bus station (even recommended the best company to travel with from Buenos Aires) and gave us a tour of the town. Each night we had cocktails amid the most relaxing environment. John organised a driver to take us to the Brazilian side of the falls and also recommended the fantastic bird park that we really enjoyed. The bus to the Argentinian side of the Falls picks you up at the end of the street. Would highly recommend Secret Garden to anyone interested in seeing the majestic Iguazu Falls. A really delightful place to stay.

Sometimes, where you stay triggers the same wonderful memories as what you see or do. This is the case for the Secret Garden. Iguazu Falls are awesome, but returning to the Secret Garden is really special. Only three rooms at the end of a tropical garden. These rooms are simple, but large, cheerful and comfortable. A small bridge through the garden takes you to the breakfast area on the other side: two large round tables where a delicious breakfast with fresh fruits is served every day. At 7:00pm, the tables are transformed into a magic area where drinks and tasty finger food are served, thus you get to know your host and the other guests. Not surprisingly, the guests often end up going out to dinner together and have a great time. John is the magician who created this little paradise and who is just as fascinating as his surroundings. He will help you with everything you need, serve the only drinkable "mate" I ever drank, and tell you just enough stories to make you yearn to hear more.

A great BnB with lovely rum drinks at 7pm. John, the owner is personable, gracious, and very helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast includes fresh fruit, a nice treat after too many biscuits at other places. Location is good too, near the centre of town so that it is easy to stroll into town at night for dinner. John will show you around, drop you off at the bus station or airport and generally try to make your time in Iguazu enjoyable. Why stay anywhere else?

John Fernandes' 'Secret Garden' B & B is just that - a secret garden hidden away in a quiet residential part of Puerto Iguazu. It is not just the fact that it is away from the noise, pollution, and people of this basic border town, it is also the comfortable rooms, the excellent breakfast, and the friendliness of the staff. However, what really sets 'Secret Garden' apart from any other B & B that we have stayed in anywhere in the world (and there have been many in numerous countries!), is John Fernandes.
John starts your visit off with a tour of the town in his vehicle, pointing out the various places of interest, sights, restaurants, shops, etc. which he then follows at 7pm at the B & B with a 'social evening' whereby guests of the B & B and John have a chance to chat and exchange stories and views. This is done in the lush, tropical garden complete with Caipirinha's and an array of snacks that are excellent to say the least (the snacks were so good and abundant, that we decided we did not need dinner on our second night there as we were full!) The thought of mixing with 'other' tourists may not sound appealing, and was our initial reaction, but to talk with those who had already experienced the falls, proved invaluable in helping us decide when to go, and how we wanted to do it.
Furthermore, John gives incredibly good help and advice - ask him about 'how to get there', and he will for example, tell you about the city bus that stops at the top of the road, and will take you to the falls for 5 pesos. Ask about the best restaurants, and he will recommend them to you, and will even call and make a reservation on your behalf, and in our case, when we arrived we were greeted personally by the Maitre d' and he gave us 'the best table'!
If you do stay at Secret Garden, try and find some time to talk to John one-on-one, he is a photographer by profession, and has lived and worked all over the world - you will find him interesting, charming, knowledgeable, and helpful.
In conclusion, 'Secret Garden' is excellent value for money! There are only three rooms, so it is quiet, unassuming, with a lovely setting. Included in the price is a large breakfast, the 'personalised city tour' (when available), the 7pm 'Caipirinha's and Snacks Social Evening', and John Fernandes generous amounts of insight and help.

This small bed & breakfast is a hidden gem in Puerto Iguazu, a little bit out of the center but a short stroll to the bus that brings you to the falls. Host John Fernandes is always ready to help his guests, and he provides a "cocktail hour" in the evening on a porch that faces the exotic little jungle that he grew in the backyard. The rooms are clean, spacious and appealing. The place helped make our visit to the falls a magical experience.
The Secret Garden is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, very clean and set within a beautiful tropical garden. The Inn is located a five-minute walk away from the main centre of Puerto Iguazu and a two-minute walk to the end of the road to get the public bus to the Argentinian side of the Iguazu Falls, Foz do Iguacu (Brazil) and Ciudad del Este (Paraguay).
The proprietor of the Secret Garden is John Fernandes, an incredible chap who makes you feel welcome and is extremely interesting to talk to. Every night John hosts a 'Sundowner' with scrumptious caipirinhas and bruschettas, a fitting end to each day after seeing the beautiful Iguazu Falls. Its also a pleasant way to meet other people and pick up good tips on seeing the falls.
John will also sort out any transport that you need and has some very good recommendations of local places to eat and drink. He arranged for us and another couple to visit the Brazilian side of the falls, a brilliant wildlife park and Ciudad del Este!
There is no better way to stay and see the falls!
