    Walking in the Dachstein

Posted by cshelbourne 28 April 2010

The Dachstein is the highest mountain in the Inner Salzkammergut area of the Alpine lakes region. It is a very beautiful area, only 45 minutes from Salzburg, and it benefits from all the ski lifts and mountain huts and marked hiking trails.

See www.GosauApartment.co.uk for tips on where to hike or ski and what local. This private apartment in the Sporthotel leisure/spa complex offers great value (£19pp/night - min four days) for couples who love busy or lazy days in lovely surroundings.

    Dachstein west ski area

Posted by pooleskier 6 December 2008

Great ski area for intermediate skiers and no Brits or long queues at the ski lifts - it's where the local Austrians ski. I would recommend staying at the Alpenhotel Dachstein in Bad Goisern. The food was excellent and hotel facilities great for families

www.dachstein-west.at shows you the area which is 1 hrs drive south west of salzburg

This a lovely apartment, 4 separate apartments in all, all spacious and very comfortable, traditionally furnished.

Whether you want a nice relaxing holiday or fancy something energetic this is the place for you, Gosau is situated about 50mins from Salzburg, provides you with wonderful scenery, an abundance of mountain bike trails/hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.

Having been here in every season it never disappoints.

The view from the Muhlradl is stunning and you can be at Gosausee Lake in a short time, this is well worth a visit.

A number of other lovely towns are within easy reach.

The owners of the Muhlradl are wonderfully helpful and can arrange bike hire etc, and have plenty of local knowledge and will always give you a warm welcome.

    Well worth a visit.
