Austria
In the film Before Sunrise, shot entirely in Vienna, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpi go to a record store where they flick through records and listen to some in a small booth at the end of the store. The store still exists and is called Teuchtler. It sells rare and old records and still has the listening booth at the end of the store. The store is tiny inside and has a very antique feel about it.
Teuchtler Schallplaten handlung Record store is located at: 10 Windmuhlgasse, off Mariahilfer Strasse, the most commercial street in Vienna.

A collection of massive round brick gasometer towers converted into a vibrant complex of homes, offices, shopping and entertainment facilities including Vienna archives.
One of the most memorable architectural sites anywhere - threatening, exciting, historic, futuristic. Think Metropolis...

If you want to shop apart from the ordinary stores, Neubaugasse is the place to be. You'll find one small, charming boutique after another, at all price levels.

Do not miss this if you visit Vienna - just a short and cheap underground ride from the centre and main attractions, Naschmarkt is a great place to explore for fun, or simply to eat very cheaply. Choose from a wide range of specialist food stalls (lots of cheese, olives etc) from around the world. A great multi-cultural experience if you get the chance, and even better if you're on a budget!

The great thing about the Naschmarkt, at least on Saturdays, is the way it progresses from tidy little Austrian huts at one end to a thoroughly oriental flea market at the other end. It’s like walking from one world to another: the best illustration of Metternich's comment that the Balkans begin at Kärtnerstrasse. Mind your handbag, but have fun! If you are staying in a place where you can do your own cooking, this is the place to stock up. And if your feet get tired, you could have a coffee in the sumptuously mirrored and gay-friendly Savoy Cafe.
Naschmarkt, between the 'Wiener Zielen'. Closest underground: Kettenbruckengasse U4
The Secession houses Klimt’s Beethoven Frieze and various paintings. It is a very beautiful building and the artwork is amazing.
Also in the area is the Naschmarkt, which is on all week, except Sundays, and sells everything form spices to clothes. I visit every time I go to Vienna, which is about 3 times a year. I bring back the best paprika outside Hungary and flower petal tea. It is very cheap and great quality.

A complex of cultural museums/institutions and more, very close to the sprawling shopping street Mariahilferstr. Some nice bars and bookshops and interesting little knick-knack places in this popular place. Check out the old computer-games store there, nostalgia ahoy!

Food and fleamarket, wonderful choice of goods and a nice selection of cafes in this busy varied area of Vienna. Well worth a visit!
