Restaurant Porto Romano is a small restaurant that serves Portugese and Belgian cuisine. It's honest, simple and delicious food.
The grilled fish is a must as is the apple pie. Very nice Portugese wine at good prices (compared to prices in Bruges.)

This restaurant offered a great value set 2 course lunch for EUR15: we had salmon mousse followed by rabbit and spaghetti, with local beer from the Half Moon brewery. Very friendly and good service.

This was a great family run atmospheric restaurant deliberately sited off the main square on Goezeputstraat. We had a delicious cote de boeuf together with starters, wine and port for EUR95, and the best frites of whole holiday. This was a genuine place where the owner served you, took his time and treated you like real people, not tourists on a conveyor belt. Highly recommended

We visited this restaurant for the competitively priced midweek dinner. We were a little afraid to have a "tourist" type meal but instead we had a wonderful meal.

The wines were chosen by the sommelier and were complementary to the served courses and a very nice addition.

I would say, go there and have yourself surprised. The quality of the food is very very good, fresh, rich, perfectly seasoned etc.

The chef has a personal interest and commitment which is demonstrated as he makes a round past the tables at evening's end to ask if everything was OK.

Wonderful place. We would go here again if we visit Bruges.

I recommend that you avoid this cafe at all costs. The cafe lured us in with a budget meal that was not available. Drink costs weren't in the menu - the reason being that they were extortionate. A steak at the price of 24 euros had additional costs of sauce (5 euros) and chips (4.50 euros).

When speaking to the staff about my displeasure they were rude and I can only describe them to be vultures. The meal was substandard and expensive. If the food and service was good then they wouldn't have to lower themselves to sneaky tricks like this to get customers. Very poor - spoiled our trip to Bruges.

This restaurant was part of the excellent hotel we stayed in, Die Swaene. We decided to try it out for supper, not expecting the gastronomic feast we had in store.

The food was simply delicious, the service was excellent, and the surroundings beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our selection was the five-course Menu Romeo & Juliette.
This was also one of the most expensive meals we've ever had, close to €300 for two adults and a child. This price, however, included two decent bottles of wine from the Margaux region, early 90s. We felt that the quality of the food, wine, surroundings and service made this meal well worth the price.

We had a lovely evening recently in restaurant-brasserie Vivaldi in Wijngaardstraat 24 in Bruges.

It was a warm evening so we sat outside watching the horse-drawn carriages coming past. We had the local specialities, my wife had a pan full of mussels and I had Bruges filet steak. We also had the local brewed beer.

The quality of the food was very good and the price was reasonable - three-course dinner, drinks and coffee just under 70 euros for two people.

Visit the Curiosa restaurant just off the market sqaure in Bruges - the traditional Flemish stew is amazing! If you are after something sweet, try the tea room a couple of doors away for the most beautiful, but reasonably priced, cream cakes to enjoy with a coffee.

My family lived in Bruges for a couple of years and my top tip there would have to be the Spinola restaurant on Spinola 1. It is cosy, friendly and great value for money.

Above all, the food is delicious and the best example of real Belgium food I experienced anywhere in Bruges. The restaurant is probably best visited in winter when its roaring fire and candle-lit tables offer consolation from the cold.

My advice would be to book for December and then follow your meal with a brief walk to the Markt where you can enjoy a skate on the temporary ice-rink and a comforting mug of warm wine.

Calis is my favourite restaurant in Bruges (is on Hoogstraat). The food is sublime, service warm and efficient and it's great value. They also run a guest house!

The concert hall in Bruges is a beautiful, contemporary venue with an impressive seasonal calendar of events. The performance I attended was a highlight of my trip. There are a range of tiny restaurants opposite the entrance where you can enjoy a pre-theatre meal - accompanied by a beer of course!

Unusual restaurant that brings you raw meat and a hot stone so you can cook it at your table. My partner and I did not realise until the food arrived, but after our initial trepidation it was good fun and certainly tasty. Not for the faint of heart or stomach but different, and not particularly expensive - as you would expect when you do all the work. Also serves the delicious local Brugse Zot beer.

Restaurant Den Dyver appears as if it should be a decades if not centuries old Bruges institution, however, the restaurant actually opened in 1992 and since then has established itself as one of the favoured and most respected restaurants in the city.

What attracted us, and I dare say many who choose to visit the restaurant, is that the dishes are cooked using Belgian beer and served with a glass of local beer – or wine if you wish – as an accompaniment.

There is an a la carte menu, however, the set menu – which changes monthly – allows you to have 3, 4 or, at times, 5 courses plus a beer or wine selection for between 46 and 74 euros (extras such as aperitifs, coffee and water not included) per person, which represents very good value for the quality of food you are served.

That food is excellent, inventive and with wonderful mixtures of flavours, very well cooked and marvellously presented.

Inside the restaurant has a kind of smart country cottage (a large country cottage) look to it with a wood-beamed ceiling, brick and plaster walls and wooden furniture, however, the crisp white tablecloths, lovely ironwork chandeliers and large fireplace are more country manor house than country cottage. It is an inviting and attractive interior and the staff all of whom were attentive, informative and very friendly aids this ambience.

The restaurant only seats 60 so booking is essential, you can do this and gain more information about Den Dyver from their website www.dijver.be

I would certainly recommend this restaurant, the food and service are both excellent and the atmosphere convivial and relaxing. My one – very, very slight criticism – was that the gaps between courses were rather long. However, that did allow us to sit back, chat away and enjoy sipping some delicious Belgian beer.

This friendly attractive restaurant is on a small, pretty square very near the Burg. It only appears to seat about 40, so booking on a weekend is probably essential.

The decor is simple but elegant—white walls, white linen on the tables, cane chairs, and subdued lighting.The staff were attentive, without being overbearing, and very pleasant.

The restaurant specialises in fish and seafood, the menu includes Lobster Soup, mouth watering Scallops in Herb Butter, Catfish, Eel, Ray and a wonderfully tasty and childishly messy Bouillabaisse. The food is of an excellent quality, well cooked and delicious.

It is more expensive than average at 113 euros for two people (two courses plus one dessert, 2 beers and 2 coffees) however the food and the ambience of the restaurant is well worth the money.
