Try and befriend a local and get them to take you to some local Khmer eateries and places - much more fun than the standard tourist haunts.

Travel is a two-way experience and the two things that make a trip to Cambodia all the more rewarding are to dress conservativley and smile. You will get an even warmer reception than normal if you present yourself as a traveller of the world and not simply a tourist who is on a day-trip from heavily westernised Thailand.
