A trip across the St Laurent river is a must. The breadth is astounding, the Thames truly seems pitiful.

1 hour power boat trip to the rapids on the St Lawrence river. Prepare to be drenched. Boat leaves every 2 hours from 10.00 am in the summer. Pre-book and get to the Horological Pier early for briefing and signing away all your rights. Leave anything you don't want to lose behind. Cost CA$ 60 (about £30).

Nearest Metro Place d'Armes. Then walk to the pier through the Old Town.
