Dubrovnik, it's a unique city in the whole world. I traveled there in September 2006. I think Croatia is a great country, it has the whole package; history; cultural richness; beautiful places to visit, and great weather.

Pile Bay-Old Town is very romantic. We stayed there at apartments near Fort Lovrijenac. The price was OK and location perfect (only 70 m from magnificent Placa-Stradun). Nevertheless, the location was quiet.

The staff were obliging and rooms clean. Another hot tip is the wonderful fish restaurant Orhan near apartments at small idilic Pile harbour.

I recommend visiting Dubrovnik a thousand times!

Cheap apartments in Dubrovnik, about 15 minutes walk from the walled city, and a similar distance to the main bus station. There is one triple room and one double room - with balcony overlooking the western part of the city, both sharing the bathroom opposite.

France Preserna 8, just off one of the main roads (Andrija Hebrang). Booked via www.hostelbookers.com

    Vila Mala - private accommodation

Posted by dubrovnik 11 October 2006

We stayed in a lovely studio apartment in the centre of the old town. The place was spotless, centrally located, had a comfortable bed, a full kitchen and the price was reasonable. The landlord was very kind and helpful. So if you are planning a trip to Dubrovnik and need to find accomodation you need not look further.

Caffe Bar Rio (in the old town)

Posted by dubrovnik 11 October 2006

Caffe Bar Rio is a great place to spend your evenings. It has great music, prices are cheaper than any other bar in the town and there is a great mix of people from all over the world. And the service is quick, unlike some other bars.

From the Pile Gate it is the third street on the left off the Stradun.

    Kamenice

Perfect al fresco budget seafood. Try the fried squid, the black cuttlefish risotto or 'little fish' on one of Dubrovnik's best squares. The only trick is beating the cut-throat scramble for tables. An orderly queue is a northern European concept.
