This July me and my girlfriend stayed at this apartment and were really satisfied since it was right in the center but in a calm street. The owner Ana Pelaic was very friendly and showed us around. The apartment was very clean and well equipped. We would stay there again.

I've spent three days in Split last summer and found this little accomodation in the very center of the city and near the port. The view from my room was amazing: my window was just in front of Peristil. This area of Split city center is very busy even during the night so you can experience a little bruit, but if you like nightliving you are in the right place. My room was simple and ikea-style, but anyway elegant and very clean, featuring air conditioning and even free internet access. These rooms are cheaper than hotel's ones, but more expensive than a hostel room. A sort of B&B without breakfast.

Five star hotel located out of the town. Cool, contemporary design, fantastic spa and rooftop (undercover) pool and jacuzzi were the highlight. Rooms were spacious and relaxing. The only down side was the distance to town and the local area is not attractive, however step on a bus or into a taxi outside and in 5 -10 mins you can reach everything you need.
The service felt a little strained, but it served its purpose. I would highly recommend this for a relaxing stay of around two or three nights on the way to somewhere else!
I stayed here last September and will definitely go back. The owners are British and good for a laugh. The rooms were all spotlessly clean and each had en suite bathrooms. It's more like a hotel but with hostel prices. The pool and patio area is a major bonus, great for lounging around or to cool off after a day exploring. Use this place as a base for exploring the islands and Split, as a stop over, or even as a short break hotel.
I quite liked House Sandra in Split. Accommodation was really nice and cheap. Location is in the centre of Split. Very close to the historical core (Diocletian's Palace), sandy beach Bacvice, museums etc.
Hosts were really helpful. They gave me some very useful advice and info.

We stayed in this apartment for one night before taking a ferry to the islands. You couldn't ask for a better location (right next to cathedral square), and the apartment was lovely with air conditioning.
Maybe a bit expensive if staying longer, but I thought the price was still reasonable at £20/night per person (high season). The owners were also very nice and helpful, giving local tips on restaurants/bars etc.

We stayed here at the end of last summer and really had a great time. A small, friendly, hostel right in the centre of the old town.
The guy who runs the place, Al, is passionate about travel and has been all over the world. He's very helpful with info about Split, history, bars clubs, (even tho he's quite old), the islands or anywhere else he's been.
It was great having a truly international bunch of ppl staying (not just Aussie and Brits). There's a common area and kitchen and Al often gets everyone out for a beer at night so you get to know who you're sleepin with!
He also organises day trips to local sites some not so well known (we had a big day out at the caves).
We got his address from a Guardian article,
