Croatia
The islet of Trogir is a popular Croatian tourist destination and World Heritage site. Billionaires park their yachts here during the summer months. However, a short walk round the town and away from the quayside leads you to a causeway back to the mainland and the extensive daily market. Under an array of shady parasols local produce – fruit, preserves, fresh herbs, cheeses and vegetables - is displayed in abundance and elderly Croatian ladies are set up round the edges with tiny trestle tables, eager to sell you their pots of honey and hand-picked crops; anything from plums to courgettes. Afterward you can pick up a coffee and a Croatian pastry in one of the nearby bakery stalls.
Trogir is on the Dalmatian coast about 20 miles from Split. The market is just off the main road beside the causeway that leads on to Trogir island.

A luxury apartment with stunning sea views on the amazing island that is Ciovo. We've stayed in many places in Croatia over the years and have yet to find an apartment as luxurious and reasonably prices as this one. Only €50 is an absolute bargain for this! Owners even collected us from the airport, and were very friendly and relaxed. Cheers guys, we'll be back.

Villa Sunrise was amazing. For a very reasonable price we got more than in some 4-four hotels we visited during our stay in Croatia. It was a combination of breathtaking views, being able to relax and enjoy the holiday or walk down to the nearest beach.
It is the perfect place to spend a few weeks, taking trips to other parts of the country , relaxing on the beaches just 300m away and exploring the many islands and attractions in the surrounding area.

Trogir is situated in the centre of Dalmatia, on the eastern coastline of Adriatic Sea. The heart of Trogir is a small islet lying between the gentle hills on the mainland and the coast of the Island of Ciovo. It is a small town of 120,00 but the airport of Split is only 3km away. Trogir gets the mild Mediterranean climate – about 30C in summer - and is actually a real treasure if you fancy avoiding the other touristy destinations in Croatia.
Places to visit I’d suggest are: St. Lovre’s cathedral, Kamerlengo fortress and the Berislavic palace.

Gorgeous old town, pedestrian friendly and good to explore. Quality shops, markets and restaurants/cafes; good beer and delicious ice creams.
Efficient buses and trains follow the coast to Split and Dubrovnik, while ferries are fun. Airport easily reached.
A highly recommended holiday destination with good sunshine, crystal clear seas, friendly and hospitable people and nearly everyone speaks English.
At the Krka National Park, there is a set of waterfalls and cascades called Skradinski Buk. The scenery here is absolutely fantastic and when you arrive at the bottom of the cascades you can take a dip in the freshwater - the only place in the park that allows swimming. A grand day out!

About and 11/2 hour drive from Trogir
We had the best pizzas here from a whole week sailing around the Croatian islands. Staff are young and friendly and wine & crepes ok too!
We think the address is VL Lekaj Lek but from the sea gate head to the middle of the island then left. It's in a quiet courtyard and quite small.
Trogir is teeming with bars and restaurants, densely packed along the Riva and in the narrow cobbled streets behind. Many of them are open all year round, including all those listed below.
Top of our list of Pizzerias is Mirkec, half way along the Riva (Boardwalk), and with exceptionally friendly and efficient staff.
Our favourite restaurant is Skrapa, serving good quality plain Dalmatian food in a rustic environment at reasonable prices. You’re assured of a warm welcome from the owners, who specialise in mildly eccentric (ie phallic) table decorations.
There’s a boat restaurant, near the marina, on the Čiovo side of the bridge which is not as expensive as it might sound and if you want a posh meal, at the higher end of the price range, try Fontana or Alka in the old town, a short walk from the Riva.

About 5 miles from Split Airport.
Long distance coach and local bus services. No train station.
Konoba Krkjaši in Uvala Krknjas bay, serves up fresh fish and excellent meat dishes at reasonable island prices and is set in a lovely garden. It’s tucked away by a wooden pier where you can moor shallow draft boats.
Uvala Krknjas Bay, Drvenik Island. You can get a ferry from Trogir Riva.

Get the ferry from Trogir Riva to Drvenik Veliki or, better still, hire a boat and go to Uvala Krknjaš on the east coast of Drvenik Veliki Island.
It’s a deserted bay, apart from a couple of houses and a good local restaurant, and the water here is so crystal clear, you’ll never want to swim anywhere else again. Make sure you take your jelly shoes as it’s a fairly rocky beach.
