We stayed in this hotel recently and got a great room with a small balcony looking out onto a park. It was wonderfully clean. The room was in a different building as the reception (although the same street), but this was no problem. The staff seemed to all be from the USA and were always on hand and friendly.

When we booked we did not realise how central it was - just under the castle. However, the area was surprisingly peaceful at night.

I'm recommending it to all my friends.

Very good tip how to save money for your stay in Prague - the advice is very simple: Sleep in a hostel instead of a hotel. The price for accommodation in hotels is far more expensive than in hostels and if you plan to be there just at night time, it is just a room with bed that you really need.

If you prefer to have your own bathroom there are a lot of hostels which offer rooms with private bathrooms and toilets.

Also, to save even more, look for accommodation not directly in the city centre.

Prague is one of the most beautiful European capitals. I travel here quite often for business. My last choice was Andel Hotel (four stars) which was designed by design studio Jestico + Whiles. I like the modern and clean style. I fall in love in this hotel. Opposite there is a shopping mall and good restaurants are also nearby. The services are great and they have multilingual friendly staff. They have a very fast internet connection too.

I have also stayed at Hotel Tranzit (four stars) which is situated at the airport area. You can book it just for a few hours and relax! Modern, clean and super services. I can recommend these two hotels.

I would like to recommend www.mi-prague.cz services, who helped us with our trip. They arranged for us all services - hotel booking (we were offered great last minute price), transportation from the airport and back as well as sightseeing. They are very friendly, reply fast and recommended lodging was excellent. Hope we will come again!

A glorious, seen-better-days, art nouveau masterpiece amid the tourist tat of Wenceslas Square. The gound floor area is stunning and the pavement tables are a good place to people watch over a couple of cold ones, though a bit pricy for Prague. We stayed here in 2004 and got the room for less than £70 via a Czech website, so shop around. Though the rooms are in need of refurbishing this should not detract from the general ambience, or the central location. There is a metro station within yards and you are spoilt for choice with trams, including the night service.

The fast food kiosks all over Wenceslas Square are best avoided, a charming young lady gave me change for Kc100 when I gave her a Kc500 note, when I queried this she paid up without batting an eyelid, obviously not the first fat idiot from Gateshead she'd attempted to fleece.

Take care with your property in hotel breakfast rooms and restaurants. The hotel we stayed in had a card entry system but it didn't operate during the day, you could 'buzz in' or the door was open. Nobody looked up from Reception and there were no room number checks in the breakfast rooms. While we were there two ladies had their bags stolen while they were at the buffet. The breakfast rooms were in the basement and had a secure feel but anybody could wander around and the thieves did!

Whilst not a super modern, plush place, it has maintained a certain old world charm and has quite possible the most gorgeous bedrooms I've stayed in yet. We went on my wife's birthday last year and the day we arrived there was a bottle of champagne for her and on the actual day of her birthday they gave us the most exquisite cake imaginable. And they're very friendly!

Trough this office near Old Town Square one can find inexpensive accomodation in the city centre, which is difficult to get hold of otherwise. Staff speak English, Italian and German and one can get a private apartment from local people renting out for about 20 GBP per person per night, payment is cash only and GBP notes are accepted. The standard is comparable to a three star hotel. I strongly recommmend this opportunity, as it is value for money and the staff are always very nice and helpful.
