    Danhostel Copenhagen

Posted by ColvilleAndersen 19 October 2005

Danhostel Copenhagen have opened a designer youth hostel in one of the city’s few tall buildings. Every room has a stunning view and the shared rooms aimed at backpackers start at about 10 pounds. Budget rooms with more privacy are available, too.

    Hotel Fox

Posted by mkadavies 29 November 2006

Great boutique hotel near centre of town. Conceived as promotional project for VW, 21 international designers and urban artists were briefed to design unique rooms. Result is a strange and otherworldy experience. Highly recommended, staff are helpful and breakfasts terrific - served on day beds/sofas in funky foyer. Click onto website to see all the rooms. Even if you don't choose to stay, you must try the cocktails in the ground floor bar/restaurant which is open to all.

    Hotel Kong Arthur

Posted by AnjaMoller 4 January 2010

A four star hotel, but it feels like a five star one. A really beautiful place - quiet and exclusive, but still in walking distance from all the major sights and shopping. I loved the historic feel of the hotel.

Friendly staff. A hotel with lots of atmosphere and reasonably priced for Denmark/Copenhagen. Great breakfast and nice rooms. Wonderfully located. Try the tapas-bar next door!

    Sankt Petri Design Hotel

Posted by ColvilleAndersen 8 November 2005

Ironic isn't it? The design hotel phenomenon was late in coming to this Mother of All Design Nations. But Hotel Sankt Petri has got the whole concept wrapped up. Housed in an old department store, the hotel offers an über modern hotel experience. In short, it's the urban resort of choice for the demanding, travelling urbanite. There's a bar, brasserie and a cafe.

    Prices start at 2,100 kroner.
Located in the heart of town.

    Hotel Guldsmeden Axel

Posted by Kilkee 2 July 2009

This is a really special hotel with a very strong emphasis on environmental matters, e.g they do not sell bottled water and all the food is organic.

The breakfast is to die for. Not your "Full Irish" (or English). I don't believe I have met such genuinely friendly and helpful staff in any hotel, not just something out of the customer service manual.

The hotel is very central, close to the Tivoli Gardens, Rail Station and the pedestrianised shopping street. One negative - a little close to the red light district. And it's not cheap.

Part of a small chain of genuinely eco-friendly boutique hotels, this doesn't stint on quality, from the toiletries to the bed linen and the sumptuous, cheese-tastic organic breakfasts.

It is a bit dated in terms of decor but the location is good and the breakfast is great. Lovely cheese, bread and other goodies to really set you up for the day.

    Radisson SAS Royal

Posted by ColvilleAndersen 19 October 2005

There are posh hotels in Copenhagen and then there is the Mother of All Design Hotels. Radisson SAS Royal was designed by Denmark’s most famous design icon, Arne Jacobsen - from the form of the cutlery to the entire form of the building. Ask for a room restored to its original state as Jacobsen had intended. Fantastic views and host to scores of statesmen and women as well as rock stars.
