    Provencal market Cours Massena

Posted by curzon 21 February 2011

The market building is a riot of colour and competing smells. Spices of brilliant hues vying with fresh vegetables from the surrounding small holdings. Cheeses of all shapes and sizes,un-named animal parts fashioned into sausages varying from cream to black. By 10.30 the stall-holders are relaxed and gossiping. Les menageres have gone home with their purchases and only the tourists remain. By 1 p.m. the building is swept clean and the Antibois sit in its shade drinking their pernod.

We have just taken the plunge and bought a caravan to tour France. Our first stop (of decent length) is in a beautiful village called Le Bar Sur Loup. We found a great campsite that will let us stay with our dog along the gorges, aptly call Les Gorger du Loup.

Because it is half an hour from coastal towns such as Antibes we are close enough to get to the beach but far enough away from all the commercialism.

    Five stars all round

Two rooms filled to the brim with a fantastic array of vintage handbags to suit all budgets - heaven!

In the Old Town, on one of the streets near the English bookshop.

    Le Brulot

Posted by PeteinSQ 25 July 2007

Le Brulot is a fantastic French restaurant in Antibes. It does amazing steak cooked in a traditional wood fired oven (a brulot). They also cook wonderful fish, mussels and other seafood.

This isn't a particularly posh restaurant, it would probably be best described as rustic. However, the food speaks for itself and I always visit whenever I am in the area.
