A family-run restaurant specialising in meat and fine wine. The meat either comes from free range ducks, geese, pigs on the property, or is hunted in the surrounding forests.
Next door they have a shop with over 15,000 bottles of wine, plus produce from the Auberge (smoked ham, patés), as well as other local specialities. High quality food, beautiful traditional buildings, a great welcome.

This youth hostel is widely regarded as one of the best in France. The shared rooms with bunk beds allow you to get to know other guests really well. The breakfast is good and the park around the hostel is good for recreational activities. Quiet despite the busy main road to the A31 motorway directly in front of the hostel.

Take bus no 3 or 11 from Metz train station and ask for the Pontiffroy stop.
The city centre is a 15 min walk away (pleasant once you get off the busy main road outside the hostel)
Metz lies 175 miles east of Paris. Up to 75 trains per day leave from the Gare d'Est in Paris. The journey time is currently 3 hours (to be reduced to 90 mins when the new TGV line from Paris to Strasbourg opens in June 2007). The train station in Metz is a 15 min walk from the city centre.
