France
This is my favourite club in Paris. It is an old fashioned disco, with seats, a tiny wooden dance floor and an eighties retro look. Fridays and Saturdays starts as a bal-musette with couples dancing, but nearer to closing time you can dance to anything from French pop oldies to Kylie and Dalida.
It's all very French, but not in the English meaning of the word, friendly, definitively hetero friendly and although a bit studenty sometimes it's a great place to go out and dance to your heart's content without the hassle of trendier places. They also run a busy programme of activities during the week, and a bar next door (Rue des Virtus)

A large red boat moored on the Seine by the new national library, the Batofar houses a restaurant on deck and bars, dancefloors and chill-out room down below. Live sets from invariably interesting up-and-coming bands kicks off most evenings, with some big-name DJs taking over later. Deeply branché, despite the fact that access involves a potentially perilous hike along the quayside.

The clubbing deluxe dorm experience. Subdued intimacy apart from the odd overexcited tourists and stylish dancefloor. Very exclusive but once you manage to get in don't worry about not getting into the vip area, the whole club is a vip area. Ignore the quality of the food and concentrate on bed-posing and people-watching.
