Loire Life Gites

Posted by virgibuzz 1 February 2010

Self catering gites in the Loire Valley, with pool and hot tub! Beautiful place to relax and unwind, but also see the best the Loire Valley has to offer - chateaux, vineyards, markets etc.

Loirelife Cycling Holidays

Posted by virgibuzz 11 December 2009

Fantastic french cycling holidays in the Loire Valley. Centre based, so there's no need to pack andunpack each day. The routes were great - mainly flat and traffic free and the sights were wonderful - chateaux, vineyards, beautiful countryside etc and we relaxed in the pool or hot tub at the end of the day. The evening meals were such fun, with delicious food the chat with other guests was really entertaining! Jon and Ali are great hosts (being family run, they really can pay personal attention to your needs).

Chateau De Reignac

Posted by user101 31 August 2009

Beautiful chateau hotel in a small village in the Loire Valley that we stayed in on our honeymoon. Not cheap, but the rooms are beautifully refurbished (contemporary take on traditional design and very well done) and the food is exceptional. Doesn't have a hotel feel and hosts very pleasant (felt like we were staying with wealthly friends!). Something to look at if you're looking for something quiet and quality. Good value we thought.

Such a lovely surprise to find this 15th century Chateau, not heavily publicised, but well worth the visit, especially for those who love the history of ‘la belle chasse’.

The exterior museums record beautifully all aspects of 'the hunt', (there’s even a vintage collection of Hermes scarves as well as a display of numerous riding outfits worn throughout the centuries). The interior of the Chateau is limited to a few rooms and a church, however, visitors will enjoy exploring the once very active stables, learning about saddlery and all the necessary preparations for the hunting season. There's also some fine examples of taxidermy; stories about the life of hound dogs and their masters and wonderful black and white photographs that capture a time lost in the Loire. Book a lunch at the adjoining Auberge serving quality tourangelle cuisine.
