How to get more from your ski pass

Posted by skihead 22 October 2012

Before deciding where to ski, ask the ski companies or use the web to check if the six or more day ski pass you are probably going to be buying gives you a day’s access to the lifts at a neighbouring resort for free or a reduced price and whether the ski company lays on transport to get you there and back. Many do though you will have to pay for this. If staying in a smaller resort this can really add to the variety and mileage you can get under your. Check out St Foy’s pass for free or reduced access to one of the huge five star areas of Val D’Isere, Tignes or Les Arcs. Passo Tonale’s pass gives a free day in either Madonna di Campagilo or the Brenta Dolomites and if in French Serre Chevalier you can get a taste of Italian skiing in Sestriere or other Italian resorts of the big Milky Way system.

The Sun Bar

Posted by aichkiss 31 January 2011

The Sun Bar at the base of the Olympique cable car is easy to reach by foot, ski's or snowboard; so doesn’t rule anybody in your party. The best thing about this place is the selection of food and above all the price!
As any visitor to Val d'isere will know, a normal day out there can be quite costly, with a bottle of water regularly reaching 4 Euros. Add that to your food bill and you’re talking about an easily spent 30 to 40 Euros on lunch alone.
We found the Sun Bar on our first day in resort and then went every day for the rest of the holiday!
The food options include some classic French meals like soups and stews, then there are sandwiches and French fries. The salads served here are really great and very fresh.
On average a main meal, a can of coke and a chocolate bar will cost 10 - 12 Euros. There are plenty of seats and tables so plonk yourselves down, and the view of le Face (a terrifying black run)and the nursery slopes offer you an excellent chance to people watch.
I would highly recommend a visit to the Sun bar when in Val!

Hotel Val d'Isere

Posted by Parisien 14 October 2009

Ormelune hotel is the former Mercure in Val d'Isere. It has been entirely renovated. It's a totally different hotel now, proposing 46 rooms reflecting modernity and coolness. The slogan could be: don't take life too seriously.
Four artists including JonOne have created four cows: the cow parade as they call it, to remember we are in the mountains.
There is also a game to win a free upgrade on the website.
