Small is beautiful
Annamargareta
Agistri is a small island, less well-known than its larger neighbour Aegina, but easily reached either by direct ferry from Piraeus or by the Agistri Express from Aegina town. Its low hills are covered with pine trees and its waters a sparkling turqoise that I have seldom seen anywhere else. A sandy beach provides safe shallow bathing for children, but for those who love to swim in deep, clear water there is beautiful and dramatic landscape - and seascape - on the other side of the island. Agistri has two main villages, well supplied with tavernas, and two small hamlets. It is not a place for either the 'culture vulture' or for those looking for exciting nightlife. What it offers is the opportunity to relax in beautiful surroundings.
