    Paxos

Posted by troutiemcfish 3 May 2011

Paxos is tiny but perfectly formed, and is less than an hour from Corfu by hydrofoil. The main town of Gaios is where you will find all the swanky yachts, but inland you will find a quiet island covered with olive groves, donkey tracks, and beautiful flowers. Life here is lived at a slow pace, and there is a true sense of community and of things as they used to be. The tiny village of Magazia has a wonderful traditional taverna serving hearty Greek food. Not far from Magazia, in Castanida, is the Sunset Taverna, which does what it says on the tin. There is a shady garden restaurant, or you can climb up onto the slightly precarious plywood roof terrace for an unrivalled view of the sunset.

    Anti Paxos

Posted by Davidstephens 23 April 2011

Heaven is the small island of anti Paxos - it has nothing against its bigger sister- three kilometres south of Gaios, the capital of Paxos, and reached by a sea taxi. It is full of olive groves; Vrika, a sandy beach; a taverna that overlooks the clear Ionian sea, an old lighthouse you can walk to, and a tranquility and peace you only find in the land of the gods.

    Villa Glyfada

Posted by milamila 31 March 2009

Villa Glyfada is just what you want if you pick Paxos as your Greek island destination: a good balance of unspoilt sights and three small port towns with plenty of small restaurants and evening bars.

In the remote olive grove hills, Villa Glyfada is hidden amongst the big old olive trees, some even centuries old.

Having candle lit BBQ dinners on the verandah with a view over the secular olive groves and deep blue sea is unforgettable.

It was difficlut to stop reading on the wooden porch swing and deck chairs to meander down through the trees to the hidden beach.

Nicely furnished and well equiped, this villa has everything you need to feel at home. Even a couple of friendly Greek cats looking for some attention.

Very good value for the price. And while you are there don't forget a day trip to gorgeous Anti Paxos.

100 Euros per night for 2p renting the house, and 130 Euros per night for 4p.

    Paul's Scuba Diving

Posted by tomwn 9 September 2008

Scuba diving is something that's definitely worth doing on Paxos - the caves around the cliffs are stunning - and the only guy who seems legit, amongst a lot of sketchy operators, is Paul, an English guy with a license, a compressor and a boat.

When you get to Lakka, in the north of the island, call him on +30 978 167 506
