    Medeast Lindos

    Posted by smudger1970 7 June 2010

If you decide to holiday in Lindos, Medeast restaurant is a must. The views over Lindos bay and the ancient acropoils are breathtaking. The food is five star and always ask for a special bottle of local wine not on the menu. Manolis, the owner, is an excellent host and if you're lucky he may even play his guitar at the end of an evening.

On the right as you leave the main square in Lindos, heading uphill

    Indigo

Posted by Mickhud 10 July 2008

Indigo is a restaurant, formerly Maria's, in the New Market in Rhodes Town. It is adorned with billowing drapes so you feel as though you are eating in a tent. The food is wonderful, the service discreet and pleasant - no touting - and the wine is excellent. Despite all this, it is not expensive and offers great value for money.

    Taverna Kostas

Posted by Mickhud 7 July 2008

A traditional taverna in the old town. No touting, no hard sell, just great food served by father and sons. Enclosed garden terrace with views. Reasonably priced with the best yigantes I have ever tasted!

This is a bar when you can happily spend the afternoon without a care in the world. The drink is cheap, the food is great (all freshly prepared, which is more than can be said about some of the places close by), and the staff are friendly!

Dorieos Square (think that's the way to spell it), it's off AG Fanourio, Old Town, Rhodes, 00 30 22410 74293. Mixture of gates close by - San Francisco, Red Gate & Kolona

Firstly Danielle's Pizzas are amazing. You might wonder why pizza in Rhodes, well, the Italians occupied Rhodes between the wars. I guess it rubbed off. Definitely the best pizza you will get anywhere.

Also in Afandou Theo's Taverna is a small fish taverna set in the traditional village house that Theo the owner and chef was born in.

Wonderful food prepared by the whole family, try the prawns in ouzo sauce. Theo is a fantastic character who wants all his customers to enjoy the real Greece.

    Both in Afandou village.
Danielle's is just off the square in the main street.
Theo's is up a side street opposite Eleni Restaurant.

    Mavrikos Restaurant and Geloblu

Posted by MarinaLindos 25 September 2007

Mavrikos Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in Lindos village. After spending six months in Lindos already, working in a Hotel, I have eaten in each and every restaurant that exists in the village. Mavrikos does not compare with any of them.

Tastes and combinations are excellent! The prices are reasonable and the best of all is Dimitris Mavrikos, the owner. Besides being a great chef his singing talents are really good!
After lunch or dinner at Mavrikos, do not miss Geloblu in the centre of the village where you'll find the best ice cream ever - any flavour you can imagine. Vassilis Mavrikos, the owner, is a great host. Ask him to make you the Gelo-Marina Cocktail, it's really good

    Mandraki Rhodes

    Posted by bob22 14 May 2007

Mandraki is a must. The old town has its own charm but Mandraki represents the cosmopolitan Rhodes. There you will find everything. The Italian Art Deco buildings, the Agora with many shops and restaurants. Just at the entrance of the market there are kiosks with foreign books and newspapers.

On the promenade, visit the Zaharoplasteion Dimitriadis, one of the oldest pastry shops. Enjoy the view of the windmills and the two pillars with the deer at the port entrance.

Just behind the Taxi terminal inside the arcade there are some good old restaurants with very cheap prices.

    Tsampika Beach

Posted by eros 1 March 2007

This is one of my most favourite beaches in the world. A long stretch of lovely white sand, little cantinas dotted along the beach and clear, warm sea. Great for snorkling around the rocks.

After a strenuous day relaxing try the Panorama restaurant, a 5 minute drive away. Enjoy their authentic, fresh food (cheesy flowers a must) sitting under vines with a view of the beach.

They also have loads of huge dried gourds hanging everywhere and squid stretched out to dry. The waiters are great and the service excellent.

Tsampika beach is on the east coast roughly half way between Rhodes Town and Lindos.

To get to The Panorama, turn left out of the beach entrance, drive up the hill, it's on the left-hand side, and has a gravelled parking area out front.

    Pane di Capo

Posted by eros 1 March 2007

This is a coffee shop that serves excellent coffee and the best cakes on the island. The cakes range from traditional Greek to chocolate cakes covered in chocolate!

    It's heaven for cake lovers!

There's one in Rhodes Town about a 2minute walk from the bus station, down the road from Mothercare. There's also a branch on the main street in Pefkos.

    Thomas Neocafe - Kremasti

Posted by eros 23 February 2007

This is a great Greek coffee shop, in the heart of Kremasti village. Thomas and Mikhlais will give you a really warm welcome. You can enjoy cocktails, a latte or traditional Greek coffee, they also serve freshly prepared snacks.

Come and play tavli (backgammon) or take a rest in the shade if you are travelling around. It's worth coming to see the mad murals they have painted on the walls inside.

The prices are cheap and children are very welcome.

It's on the left hand side as you come from Rhodes Town, after Melody Palace. Park at the side of the church and it's a 2 minute walk.

The Walk Inn - Old Town

Posted by eros 23 February 2007

The Walk Inn is a bar/restaurant in the heart of the Old Town, a 5 minute walk from Socrates Street. It's set in a very pretty square and you can spend hours watching the world wander by.

There is a fantastic atmosphere, the food is all freshly prepared (pizzas and meze a speciality) children are very welcome and the prices are ridiculously reasonable.

There's no web site, but if you want directions call them on 22410 74293, and someone will come to meet you! How's that for service!

    Hotel Elafos - Profitis Ilias

Posted by eros 23 February 2007

If you are going on a day out, head for the hills and the stunning Hotel Elafos on Profitis Ilias Mountain. The drive there is beautiful through little villages and olive groves. The hotel is completely unique, set deep in the woods and a great location for walkers.

Orginially built as a HQ for Mussolini it has been restored by local craftsmen and offers a complete change from the beach.

You can have lunch (food is excellent), stay the night or even get married here - there's even a childrens play area. It's relaxing, peaceful and well worth the visit.

The drive is about an hour from Rhodes Town or Lindos.

I suggest this nice Italian restaurant-pizzeria for tourists visiting Lindos.

Very nice pizza in wood-oven, very good pasta and very good appetizers. Italian staff, good Italian music, and much more. Enjoy your trip to Lindos.

    Estia - Restaurant in Lindos

Posted by Squidgy 6 October 2006

They do the best Gyros pitta on Rhodes - pork cooked on a rotisserie, with tzatziki, tomates and onions. I sampled quite a few just to be sure! A great value lunch at just 3 Euros.

It's near the church bell tower on a corner after you walk past the Donkeys from the main square.

This is the best beach taverna on Rhodes, run by Philip (from the island) and his English wife, Barbara. Perfect traditional Greek menu, all freshly cooked, in a drew setting on top of the cliff above the north end of the beach
