Spetses is a beautiful, small island. It's where John Fowles wrote The Magus while living there as a teacher. No cars are allowed on the island, except for
taxis - so if you wish to get around, you have to take a bicycle or moped which you can rent there. It's a peaceful place which isn't overrun with tourists and its lovely little town by the sea has wonderful seafood restaurants and views of the other side. For a quiet Mediterranean break, this is the place
to go.
