Padang Padang Surf Camp is a place that provides lessons and guiding for experienced surfers, mainly around areas of the Bukit peninsular in the south of Bali, but also in other parts of the island too.
The surf guides and instructors have been surfing the various places in Bali for years and years so you get to surf the best place each day.
The accommodation was half-board which included a proper breakfast (not just cereal and toast) and some amazing traditional Balinese inspired lunches.
The camp was very laid back yet extremely well-run so a perfect place to both relax and ensure that you get the most out of your time there.
The staff were all very friendly and competent, all the way from the instructors to the kitchen staff and I'll definitely be visiting again in the future.

Jiwa Damai in Bali is a wonderful retreat center in the middle of nature. It is an environmentally friendly ecolodge with a huge organic garden. They practice permaculture, water preservation and biological waste recycling.
They offer beautiful rooms, which are fairly cheap (50 Euro per night per room), a swimming pool with natural spring water, two meditation spots in the jungle and a huge open-air lounge and dining area.
It is very quiet and peaceful, the ideal place to relax. Meals are organic, prepared from their own organic produce. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Excursions and tours are offered.

An intimate boutique hotel, in the rice paddies, yet at walking distance from the centre of Ubud, Bali's cultural capital. Eastern hospitality and Western standards. The best of both worlds!

I have been to Bali many times and I always preferred to stay in a hotel because I felt I could relax and enjoy the tranquility of the island.
But the last time I went, I rented a villa and now I can't believe I have never done it before.
We enjoyed the kindness and the great cooking of the staff of the villa and most of all the privacy. We stayed at the Shanti Lodge and immediately loved the property for its great terrace for watching sunsets.
We wandered into the courtyard of the palace as a respite from the market over the road — and ended up staying. Some of the pavilions have been turned into hotel rooms, but like no other hotel room you’ve ever stayed in: huge carved wooden doors, pagoda roofs supported by gilt pillars, painted masks, brocaded chairs. Some of the Sukawati family, who own the palace, were lounging on daybeds in other salons, one surrounded by birds of prey. And you can hear the music from the traditional dances from the comfort of your room. Surreal.

A hill town with a relaxed vibe surrounded by lush rice paddies... the perfect retreat.
Ubud is around an hour by car from the airport, and about 40 minutes from Sanur. Catch a taxi of bemo, or a shuttle bus from Kuta.
Very comfortable yet quiet small guesthouse set back amongst the bustling throngs of THE place to surf n party.
Lovely pool and agreeable price lets you spend extra bargaining for gifts and art in Ubud market.
