Western frontier
Here in Schull, on the shores of the romantically named Roaringwater Bay, little town streets wind randomly among the pastel-coloured houses and shops, which range from a tiny organic health shop to a French cafe staffed by real French girls who serve real French patisseries.

Variations of the Arran sweater swell the shelves of craft shops while high-quality jewellery and ceramics sit in solitary splendour on glass shelves.

In July there’s a great art festival here with displays of paintings and ceramics by nationally acclaimed artists. Not in an art gallery or museum, but in every shop and business in the village.
