An amazing restaurant with rooms in a valley near to Cortona. The setting is stunning and the pool is to die for. However the main reason to go here is for the food - either a meal in the restaurant or a cookery lesson with Alberto. We learnt how to cook a four course Italian meal (salad, pasta, main, pudding) and then sat down to eat it with Alberto, his lovely English wife and their daughter. An amazing experience, we can't wait to go back and have a full on meal in the restaurant. Prices are very reasonable too.

Hotel Sant Ercolano

Posted by tomysupercup 29 April 2009

This is a great place to stay if you're on a budget. It's located on a quiet street but is very central in the old town. The free breakfast isn't much but its free. The views from the rooms at the back are excellent (ask for number 53 if it's available as it has a small balcony where you can sit and enjoy the view).

Catch the mini metro from behind Perugia's train station - www.minimetrospa.it/ - email hotel to ask which is the closest stop. Or its a 5 minute walk from the bus station.

This is the best B&B anyone could want to visit in Italy. Letizia and Ruurd are so welcoming - the rooms are simple but beautiful, private bathrooms are immaculate and the views over Assisi are stunning.

The two-day cooking course (optional) is great and highly recommended.
A wonderful, relaxing experience guaranteed. Letizia recommends all the best places to eat locally.

Great views from the hotel, ask beforehand, and a quiet but excellent museum of art with some stunning paintings. Dine in the sqare, view the fountain and leave. A pleasant stay, half day tour and move on. Take a taxi from the railway station. Do not walk or you will regret the decision.
