Jurmala is a seaside resort about 40 minutes from Riga. It has a golden beach with a blue flag, which means it is a clean beach. More interesting, are the wooden buildings that are dotted along the main street and the beach. Some of these buildings feature beautiful carvings. Particularly impressive is the cottage of the Latvian poet Aspajzia, which is about 400 metres along the main road from Majori.
