Pasar Minggu - Sunday Market

Posted by davevicki 18 October 2007

An assault on the senses. Visually stunning vibrant street market, a photographers dream - fantastic produce market that starts on Saturday evening and runs until shortly after midday on Sunday.

There are fruits on sale you won't see anywhere else in the world - straight out of the rainforest...

off Jln Sator, Kuching, Sarawak, Borneo

Both the Damai Beach and Damai Lagoon Holiday Inn resort hotels are excellent places to stay in a secluded, beach area surrounded by jungle, about 45 minutes drive from Kuching. Double rooms go for a mere £30 per room.

There is a shuttle bus to both from the Holiday Inn in Kuching.

Semengoh

Posted by Julee 23 March 2006

Semengoh is an orang-utan rehabilitation centre. These are orang-utans rescued from captivity and living semi-wild. Don't visit it on a tour as you'll be sharing your orang-utan time with loads of other tourists. Get the bus out between feeding times when you'll be there on your own and still have the opportunity to see the animals. We thought we'd made a terrible mistake missing the morning feeding time, but then had a few hours just us, the orang-utans and the rangers before the hordes arrived for the afternoon feeding time. Fantastic!

Get the bus 6/6A/6B/6C from the Kuching bus station and get off at the Forestry Department Botanical Research Centre. Last bus back is at 1700 - if you miss this you're walking
