    Banana Bar

Posted by Rori 1 September 2009

Grand Baie is buzzing with life. Banana bar is the place to hang out and to sit and have a beer and a nice casual meal. I suggest Sunset Cafe by the Canelle shopping center. From there you can book a catamaran to go and visit for the day one of the little islands like flat island. Good fun and nice trip. I've been going to Mauritius for the last 15 years and every time I'm there, my heart sings. What I love most is the people. Never stops to suprise me the beauty of that island. The food is really nice in most of the places, but my favourite is the Italian restaurant by the Banana bar called Don Camillo.

The Royal Palm hotel is a gem to visit or to have dinner which it will cost you big bucks.
Palais De Chine does excellent chinese food and if you are lucky and it's in season you can order the best crab cooked in black bean sauce.

To eat Don Camillo 2638540. I don't know the phone numbers of the rest, but easy to find all the above, They all in Grand Baie area

For the benefit of the readers of this forum I would like to recommend on this website: www.restaurants.mu (Mauritius Restaurants Guide).

It is a great restaurants and bars guide for Mauritius offering up-to-date information on restaurants, bars and clubs in Mauritius (of course it is FREE).

The website is a great tool to find a restaurant, place to eat, catering service, food shops, and to find big selection of discount coupons, special promotions, restaurants tips, so check it before your arrival to Mauritius.

    Hope this helps. Enjoy :-)

I actually just came back from Mauritius and I had a great time! I can only recommend from my own experience. I ordered three excursions from a website called Mauritius Attractions few weeks before I arrived to Mauritius. I think you should check this website, they have a very big selection of excursions and tours, their service was very professional and the prices are very good (better then in other tour agencies we found while in Mauritius). In anyway – don't book any excursions through your hotel – they really charge double prices.
I hope this tip helps. Bye.

    The Banana Bar

Posted by cmbarc 2 February 2009

This is the coolest bar on the planet. Situated beneath a huge tree, there is a live band on Friday and Saturday nights. Loads of cocktails on the menu as well as beers, wines etc. It doesn't get going until around 11pm/midnight but it is an excellent night out.

    Maison Mon Choisy

A self-catering apartment for two people, set in a tropical garden of a family house, 150 metres from a two-mile long paradise beach protected by a coral reef, fringed by a casurina forest.

Beautiful walks in every direction, loads of safe snorkelling, diving, boat trips. Definitely the best beach on the island we saw in a great district with everything you'd want. The apartment is in a quiet place as close to the beach as you can get and is roomy and secure with parking for a hire car. It was everything we expected and more from a tropical island holiday.

    Ile aux Aigrettes

Posted by PeteA 7 June 2006

This beautiful nature reserve is 1km offshore in Mahébourg bay. Run by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation (MWF), it is a great place to see the critically endangered flora and fauna of Mauritius and to get up close to a giant tortoise. The guided tours also allow an insight into the ongoing efforts of MWF to restore the habitat of the island.

This beautiful destination is well worth a day out and what's more, all proceeds go to aid MWF in its ongoing conservation efforts.

    Numerous boats depart from Mahébourg
