It is a small cafe and bookstore upstairs in a side street in Marrakech. I found this place so wonderful to have an afternoon snack/lunch as the food was great and with such a tranquil atmosphere, you could just admire the books that surround you on the walls. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely lunch and a smoothie with a delightful coffee afterwards while we wandered through all the old unique books about travel, fiction and some obscure academic books. I even managed to pick up an old copy of a book on neo-classicism to remember the place. We spent hours there just reading and drinking, looking out onto the Moroccan skyline. A great place to find a truly unique book while enjoying some traditional and contemporary cuisine.

Don't let the slightly hippy name put you off! It is as far as I could find the only veggie cafe with vegan dises.

Morrocan food is great but can be bit of a challenge for strict veggie or vegan. This cafe meets this need. It is also quiet and relaxing contrast to the souk and feels very Moroccan rather than French as other cafes do.

It's inside a riad and is an oasis of calm in the frenzy. Lovely home-cooked organic food and a small gift shop selling organic toiletries and some craft gifts. In the afternoon you can while away the hours or chat to the staff if you want to as there is no hassle. A gem and only wish I had discovered it earlier in the trip

For a cheap lunch, try the cafe in the Ensemble Artisanal shop, where tasty tagines, harira soup and couscous are served.

The Café du Livre is a new place in the heart of Guéliz, the new part of town. It's a second hand bookstore, mostly English, great selection, with lots of magazines, newspapers, guidebooks for browsing and a very reasonably priced menu done by two michelin star chef Richard Neat of Casa Lalla (who hangs out there all the time, as do all writers and journalists because they have a wifi connection). It's hidden, very low key, very cosy and a great place to have breakfast, lunch or an early dinner as they serve non stop from 9.30 to 21.00. Not to be missed.

Dar Cherisa is a lovingly restored town house that is a wonderful place to have a tea/fruit juice or even lunch. You can sit in the courtyard, one of the rooms or on the terrace. There are also art exhibitions and books on Marrakech to leaf through. Well indicated, it's in the Mouassine part of the Medina.
