If fighting your way through the car crazy streets, being shouted at, pulled and pushed in every direction at the night market and then getting completely lost in in the heady, noisy souks of the medina leaves you overwhelmed and a little stressed, then this holistic sanctuary, slap bang in the middle of the throng will be an absolute life saver. The old town of Marrakesh is not only exciting and inspirational, it is also frenetic and exhausting, so visit the Mille et Une Nights for some well needed R&R - whether you go for a heavenly Argan oil massage or sumptuous seaweed wrap you'll leave feeling carefree and revitalised. For the braver souls who desire a more 'intense' experience than the traditional hammam is the only way to relax. Get steamed, scrubbed, drenched, scraped and steamed again - yes its an experience for sure, but you'll come out feeling newborn, with baby soft skin. What's more with their incredibly reasonable rates and the traditional decor and sensuous atmosphere, you'll be as fresh and vibrant as a Moroccan mint tea in minutes - definitely not one to miss.

I visited the hotel at the end of May and the hotel was as the brochure described and better. I was there with three friends and we had a "just what the doctor ordered" holiday in terms of relaxation, sleep and lots of laughs. Yes the spa is a little basic at present but the manager, who I didn't feel was arrogant at all, has told me that they will have a newer much larger spa by the end of the year and that there will be more treatments. The food is amazing and the beds are incredibly comfortable, along with all the secret little hidden places. We are all definitely going again next spring to get an early summer tan and help finish the start of the year detox before the summer.

If you want to experience a local hammam try the Bab Doukkala hammam next to the mosque. It is 16th century and has a stunning wood carved ceiling in the changing area and a magnificent domed and arcaded warm room. Men mornings and late evening, women afternoon. Locals only too willing to help you if you dont know the ropes, and you can get a gommage (exfoliation which feels like you are being rubbed with sandpaper). Guys wear trunks and modesty is the order of the day. They say not so for women. A memorable surrounding and experience.

Get a petit taxi to the Bab Doukkala mosque, or walk.

Marrakech is a wonderful city but mad and you'll want to wind down and there's no better place than here. Have a hammam and then follow it up with a massage all for under £30! Such beautiful relaxing surroundings. I didn't want to leave.

Les Bains de Marrakech is really a tourist hammam but means that couples can go together and have a private room - I came out floating!
