Great campsite on the edge of the city, 15 mins to Dam Square on a tram. Cheap tent rates or hire a little cabin, central heating and bedding included in the cost of these. Good breakfast can be bought from the bar in the morning, and food all day at not extortionate prices. Good clean showers, if a little cramped when you are taking one. Bike hire on site as well, and saves you having to find parking in the city centre at very expensive rates, you just leave your car at the campsite!

Amsterdamse Bos is a campsite in Amsterdam. Great for canoeing, horse riding and really getting a different holiday.

The bar man will wind up an old record player for you and ask you to wipe your bum on a rabbit if there's no toilet roll, but apart from that it's relaxing.

It's close to the metro and motorway but is an ideal retreat if you prefer to be away from the city at night.

Decent site with bar/food/internet. Popular with Germans, French and Italians. Located on a semi-island, the centre is easily reached with a few minutes walk to the trams and 7-15 minutes to the centre. The only drawback may be that the relentless ingestion of drugs leads some to play guitar badly.
