Diamond in the rough
In stark contrast to Seoul in South Korea, Pyongyang must be one of the world's most unwired cities. Mobile phones will work there but you'd never know as the border guards confiscate them upon arrival.

You will be shown around the standard set of tourist "attractions" - including the Juche Tower and the colossal statue of the Great Leader - by your government guide.

North Korea is a pretty grim place but there are diamonds in the rough. Ask your guide to take you to the breathtaking mountains. If you're staying in the Koryo hotel, take a bath towel, the hotel ones are like tea-towels.
