    Geitost

A hard Norwegian goats' cheese, sweet to the taste and sickly to the eye. The locals have a saying about it: "The first time you hate it, the second time you hate it, the third time you love it." Couldn't agree more. Great as an alternative Welsh rarebit...

    Akker Brygge

A shopping centre with quality outlets and collection of restaurants down by the sea. Try Sorgenfri or Bacalao for reasonably cheap food. There's also TGI Fridays and McDonalds for more mundane fare. Worth a look.

Rudolph tastes surprisingly good. Eat it as a steak, a meatcake or in a stew. Don’t forget the cranberry jam.

    Lutefisk

Only for the adventurous. Lutefisk is cod that has been soaked in lye, tastes like fish jelly and is served with mashed peas and bacon. Personally, I can’t stand it, but Norwegians gorge themselves on it.
