Beleza da Serra

Posted by sdc3101 16 April 2011

A small hotel on the waterfront in the Geres National Park. The hotel serves the best Portuguese food. The owners are fluent in English. The view is absolutely breathtaking. Within walking distance is the lagoon with a wide variety of watersports or just sit on your balcony and take in the fresh pine air!

Fantastic Portuguese National Park (the largest in Portugal). Camping and climbing are great.

Leave your car by the border with Spain (it's forbidden to park it anywhere else because the area is protected) and walk down the road till you find the river. Are you wearing a swim-suit and waterproof shoes? Then go down the river and enjoy its crystal green lagoons and small waterfalls. When you reach the wooden bridge, come back by the ancient roman road (one mile walk). Otherwise, go to Campo do Geres and walk the entire roman road up.

Cascatas do Arado

Posted by Pipeta 17 August 2006

Spectacular waterfalls with suspended lagoons. The water is crystal clear and not at all cold. The river bed is worth climbing during the summer. Make sure to take your swimsuit, comfortable shoes (that you can use in the water is preferable) and, of course, your camera!

On the road that connects Vila do Gerês to Ermida.
