Music is given special importance at this festival, with stages being set up in particularly attractive places all around the historic centre, where more than 40 established bands and performers will be playing “world music”.
Besides music, the intense programme of cultural entertainment offered to the festival’s visitors will consist of a wide and diversified range of gastronomy, street entertainment, theatre, exhibitions and Mediterranean-inspired crafts.
During these hot summer days, Loulé will be transformed into a city filled with high quality entertainment and open to the world.

We give you 4 suggestions of the many we have to explore the Natural Algarve:
1.
Rocha da Pena
Hidden paradise in the rich Barrocal countryside
Rocha da Pena is a protected nature conservation area which support ecosystems of great ecological interest.
Between Benafim and Salir, with an area of more than 600 hectares and rising to a height of 479 metres, the craggy terrain of the Rocha da Pena site invites tourists to go for walks and is great for rock climbing.
2.
Sites of Ecological Interest
Remarkable Observatories
Places where you can see different bird species nesting include the Alvor Estuary, Paul de Budens and Leixão da Gaivota. These are places where you can follow the incredible beauty of birds in flight.
The Alvor Estuary, nestled between Portimão and Lagos, is the most important wetland area in Western Algarve. A lagoon complex, it covers 1400 hectares of marsh and dunes, which makes the area an excellent place for bird watching.
3.
Serras de Monchique Espinhaço de Cão and Caldeirão
Variations in landscape in a diversely charming Algarve
Acting as a gigantic amphitheatre, the Monchique, Espinhaço de Cão and Caldeirão hills form a protective barrier for the lowlands of the coastal region, providing shelter from the cold northern winds. The breeze from the Atlantic also contributes to the unique vegetation of the area.
Monchique is like a garden with breathtaking scenery and unique plant life within the Algarvian landscape. This north-western part of the region emerges with streams flowing down from escarpments, hills where the arbutus berry tree grows, and where oaks, pines and chestnut trees are to be found.
4.
Ria Formosa
Natural paradise between land and sea
The Ria Formosa Nature Park is a unique lagoon system that is continually changing because of the movements of winds, currents, and tides.
A gift of nature, of approximately 18,000 hectares, it is an area of transition between land and sea skirting 60 km of the Eastern Algarve coastline, between the Ancão peninsula and the Manta Rota beach in the East.
As you can see, our idea is to invite you to appreciate the best of life, get yourself into a good mood and make sure that you go home completely rested and full of energy! We urge you to accept our invitation and let yourself be seduced by the Spring in Portugal.

Chicken piri piri is super popular in the Algarve. It's basically a whole grilled chicken cut up into smallish bite size pieces. It's spicy and juicy and really good. Usually comes with fries and a tomato and onion salad.
Well they say the original place that started it all is in Guia Algarve and the restaurant is Ramirez. It's always busy and the food is good and hot, prices are very reasonable. A whole chicken with fries is €13 tomato salad is €2 and the house wine is €5 - not bad. Remember the nice basket of bread, the olives, sardine pate and cheese is not a gift it costs money - they call it a "covert" which usually runs you about €2.5 a person if you eat all of the above.
Guia is located just south of the N125 and is about 6 km north west of Albufeira.
I found this website an excellent source of information for the Algarve and extremely competitive deals on car hire.
This place is gorgeous and we go every year since we discovered it. It's a really easy and unstressful drive from Faro airport and has a perfect location, perched up on a hill above the small village of Estoi with views down to the sea. Easy acess to all the great fishing villages and good shopping in Faro, as well as amazing wildlife, walks etc.
An affordable, friendly and inspiring yoga and pilates retreat in idyllic surroundings close to Faro beaches. Guaranteed sunshine, delicious food, congenial company and, most importantly, stimulating and enjoyable yoga and pilates classes morning and evening.

Quinta Mimosa, Portugal, 20 min from Faro. A stunning yoga holiday in the beautiful Algarve, Quinta Mimosa is rural Portugal at its best! We would wake up to yoga classes with Bea, then wander down to the orange groves to pick fresh oranges to squeeze before heading off to brunch, where everybody gathered mid morning as the weather hotted up. Then we could swim in one of the two pools; head off to the sea or visit the local market in the lovely town of Loule. This July will be the third time I am visiting this retreat. I loved sitting quietly for meditation by the pool. The yoga sessions are inside a well-equipped studio, which is cool and tranquil; I could only hear the buzzing of the bees as we relaxed at the end of an enjoyable session. Returning from one of the afternoon excursions, there is an expert Pilates class before dinner! This retreat is well thought out, there is time to practice and time to play, it is very reasonable with great food and tuition. Shared accommodation from £430 to single acc £580.
20 minutes from Faro Airport, Algarve.

This website gives details, maps, infos about all kitesurf beaches in Portugal - it's a great resource.
This is the MOST gorgeous little cluster of villas - my friends and family and I visit it every single summer. It's set in a quaint little Portuguese village, surrounded by orange groves and the owners, Beccy and Ron, are so welcoming. It's only 10 minutes from Faro airport and it has a pool and loads of character. I love the neighbour, Florentina - we always manage to communicate even when I cant speak a word of Portuguese!
A sandy island off Faro, in the Ria Formosa Marine Reserve, Farol is remniscent of the Caribbean Keys. White, immaculate sand, shallow emerald waters and very few people around. There's one little bar open in peak season but its offer is very limited. So bring food and drinks. If you have a boat, the setting is perfect: dozens of pretty, desert white sand islands and the clearest sea water possible. If you want you can skinny dip all day.
Half an hour by boat from Faro or Olhão harbours. Scheduled boats only from June to September, though. Otherwise you can easily get a local fisherman to ferry you there and back.
