Lagos is in the western Algarve about an hours drive from the airport at Faro and about three hours south of Lisbon. It has a rich historical back ground and was used by many navigators including Henry The Navigator. It maintains the old style charm of the port that it once was and there are many histrical buildings worth visiting. Accomodation is excellent in Lagos and there is an abundance of traditional Portuguese restaurants. The town is well served by very good roads and rail link. There are numerous excellent beaches. There are also small quaint villages close by with a lot to offer tourists including pottery and leather goods. A must if you are travelling to the Algarve.
