Recent tips about Alcalá la Real

For three days every July, the town of Alcalá la Real is home to a vibrant multicultural festival of music, theatre, circus, cinema, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, crafts, food, and much much more!

Aimed at adults and children alike, this vibrant festival provides entertainment for all the family.

Located only 60km from Jaén and 53km from Granada, the festival attracts a host of performers from across the globe every year. There is a bus service from both these cities and once arrived, there is a good selection of hotels and restaurants that cater to all visitors.

All of the events are absolutely free and there is even a camping area available in town at a reasonable price.

La Gaviota

Posted by helasunshine 9 October 2007

A fish restaurant - La Menu del Dias is very cheap and popular with the locals so must be good!

Just on the road out of Alcala towards Granada. You get a bottle of wine with the meal all for little more than an English fiver. Only Spanish- speaking so take your translation with you.

On the road from Alcala La Real, Jaen, to Granada.

The Hospederia Zacatin in a family-run hostel, immaculately clean and very friendly, bar stays open until all hours and there is a roof terrace on the third floor as well, which does barbecues. There is also a good restaurant so lots of food choices.

La Parqu is the restaurant/bar in the middle of Alacala square. It is a beautiful area where all the family stroll in the evening. La Parque is a lovely friendly bar doing tapas and where you can watch the world go by.

Just off the central square

Paseo de los Alamos

Posted by chris2005 12 January 2007

This wide pedestrianised boulevard is the focal point of Alcalá la Real where people meet during their evening 'paseos'. It also plays host to the markets and fairs which take place all through the year.

The Paseo de Alamos is a 10 min walk from the bus station and is well signposted. If you get lost just ask the friendly locals.
