    Danzatoria Tibidabo

Posted by natg 27 February 2006

A beautiful house on a hillside converted into a bar/disco with lovely garden and terrace. Absolutely great on a summer's night. The clientele consists of "beautiful people", but it’s really good fun.

    Moog

Posted by EamonCull 27 February 2006

Moog’s a cool little club with a laid back feel, a good mixture of house and techno, locals and expats, and some occasional big name DJs. A great music policy and always a funky night out.

    Dot

Posted by noelito 24 December 2005

Dot is a pocket-sized club between the prestigious Pompeu Fabra university and the beach. Featuring functional design and impeccable service, it is open every single day of the year and offers an innovative line-up, from classic funky Latin grooves to nu skool breaks with a tasteful selection of cult films. Intimate.

Two-colours geometrical design in order to create two types of ambience in the same space. Located in the infamous Escudellers (often namechecked by Manu Chao) every night features a different theme (from nu jazz to dirty breakbeat via acid house) but always free entry. They need to sort out the air-con though - it can be like dancing in a smoking room.

    Nitsa

Proof that quality is not always incompatible with popularity: with regulars the calibre of Dave Clarke, Ian Pooley or David Holmes, the club covers dirty raw house and techno in the main room and twisted freestyle disco upstairs.

    Café Royale

Posted by noelito 24 December 2005

White-hot lighting, the most fought-over sofas in the city and a deliciously eclectic selection of music at the hands of the connoisseur DJ. Opened five years ago for an Almodovar after-party, this micro-club down a back alley from Plaça Reial has an original door philosophy: you get a card, let’s say a queen of hearts when you come in and you exchange it for another card, let’s say an ace of spades when you buy a drink – you can only leave the club if you have this card.

    Salsitas

A la carte in more senses than one. The menu is imaginative and top quality, mixing up Mediterranean and international cuisine. The atmosphere, bon garcon until midnight, where the incoming clubbers blend in to the white-hot décor joined by the local DJ talent. Secret trick: book for a table at around 11pm and you might end up being the last table to finish your meal, while the tables and chairs are taken away and replaced by the incoming nightshifters.

Avant-guard interior design and a double menu: the permanent one is Mediterranean-Japanese, while the variable monthly one is linked to the theme featured in the visuals. DJs provide the music during the meals and in the club which the restaurant turns into from 12.30

    Pipa Club

Posted by noelito 24 December 2005

Partly for those who want to escape the tourist-pickpocket clash of Plaça Reial, mostly for those who want to change the world over a bloody mary and a game of pool and only for those who are in the know. Strictly speaking a pipe-smoking club, but really anyone who has got a friendly face can come in to this Victorian expat-style club with great views over the square and the punters ooze in charisma.
