    Museu Empordà

    Posted by chris2005 19 December 2009

An art museum which loses out to the Museu Dalí but a good museum because it is free to visit with your ticket to the Museu Dalí (and you may as well as get your money's worth). It has some informative pieces showing the beauty and talent of the 'Olot' school of painters. When I went one floor was closed because of refurbishment but the upper floor was open.

    Museu Dalí

    Posted by chris2005 19 December 2009

The museu Dalí is not obligatory to visit in Figueres but even you're not an art-lover its worth a visit.
The best parts of the museum are:
Mae West room, the tomb of Dalí, a copy of Dalí's most famous work -
The Persistance of memory (you will recognise it when you see it).
Allow a good two to three hours to see everything. It is child-friendly.
Even if you're unwilling to pay the high entrance fee you can get some appreciation of Dalí's eccentricity by looking at the 'eggs' on the outside of the museum.

    Plaça Dalí
    Entrance fee is 7-8 euros

    Sant Pere church

    Posted by chris2005 19 December 2009

Sant Pere rarely gets visited as most visitors bypass it on their way to the Museu Dalí which is next to the church. But this is a shame as Sant Pere is a handsome building with a representation of the dying Jesus in the arms of the Virgin Mary which moved me to tears.

    Calle de la Rambla

    Posted by chris2005 19 December 2009

Las Ramblas is the pedestrianised main street of Figueres. It's a pleasant place to stop and rest and chat to the locals. At the southern end of Las Ramblas is a statue of the second most famous son of Figueres - Narcís Montargis who invented the submarine

Just follow the road from Figueres train station and you will reach Las Ramblas in ten minutes or so.
