Posted by lucerito 25 October 2009

Jarandilla de la Vera is an small town situated between the mountains of Gredos. There is an ancient castle what was property of Counts and then became an excellent Parador de Turismo.
Very near the town, just a short walk, there is beautiful scenery, a natural gorge river, where you can bathe, or swim free in summer.
There are also an small but great camping.
During the summer the town is the place for Extremadura University (UNEX) summer courses.
There are lots of small towns and villages within 50 miles which are beauty and typical, like Losar de La Vera, Cuacos de Yuste, Jaraiz de la Vera, Garganta la Olla, Valverde de la Vera ...
The countryside in La Vera looks lovely in spring or autumn, and has a special microclimate where thousands and thousands of fruit trees like cherry, peach or oak wood grow.

Highway Madrid-Badajoz. A-5 till Navalmoral de la Mata, then you must turn off the main road in Navalmoral de la Mata and drive through the road to Jarandilla de la Vera. The trip takes about two hours from Madrid.
