    Lanjaron

A small traditional town that is the gateway to the Alpujarras is what captures your heart in this beautiful mountainous area. With 360' views, this is the perfect place to chillax and drink in the scenery. Or, drive 30 minutes down to the beach at Solebrena, 30 minutes north to see Granada and the Alhambra or even a 30 minutes to go skiing, walking, climbing, snow shoeing and much more. Accommodation in Lanjaron is plentiful and covers all budgets from the new spa hotel to two star hotels. It's not your traditional holiday destination so although there are some tourist shops, this is a real working Spanish town where the Spanish take precedence. Fiestas and Saints Days abound and you soon get carried away following the processions down the high street that is scented with the blossom from the orange and olive trees. There is a mixed European community here that is fully integrated into the community and who are happy to chat to visitors in the local bars; of which there are evidently 42! Lanjaron is a town that grabs your sole so much that I have just bought my own slice of heaven there. Visit and you too will be under the spell.
