    Hotel Preciados

Posted by Poxy 1 October 2009

A comfortable hotel with modern rooms in an old building. The buffet breakfast was good with a large selection and the reception staff was friendly and spoke good English. Good location for sightseeing and there are also lots of restaurants in the streets behind the hotel where we had an evening meal. I think rooms are just under €100 for a double.

    Gay Pizarro Hostel Madrid

Posted by Sissi 18 June 2009

Another great gay hostel in Madrid - this cool modernist building is in the Chueca area - great for gay nightlife and parties.

The staff are extremely welcoming and will give out any advice on things to see, gay/lesbian advice, free vouchers for clubs, saunas etc...

The rooms have ensuite and have great facilities - tvs, free internet, safety deposit boxes, linen and towels.

Gay Hostel Puerta Del Sol Madrid

Posted by Sissi 18 June 2009

This is a great gay hostel with really friendly staff - who are always willing to offer you advice on where to go and what to see - they even hand out free club passes!

The rooms are more like a hotel than a hostel, with TVs, comfortable beds and balconies overlooking Puerta del Sol square. There's also free internet and a free breakfast of freshly baked buns.

The location is excellent, you are right in the center of town, so we could walk everywhere.

    Hotel Laura Madrid with kids

Posted by Sintra 23 July 2008

The hotel Laura in Madrid is a great place for families in the very centre of this wonderful city. Modern and comfortable design, friendly staff and affordable. It's just a B&B so you have to explore the city for food. Go to the Latina district for tapas and avoid the Plaza Mayor for overpriced and badly cooked food.

    Medieval Castle Hotel

Posted by travl 17 January 2008

Me and my family have just visited a really nice hotel built into a medieval castle. Only about two hours from Madrid. Amazing landscapes and quiet surroundings. I just didn't want to leave!

Excellent value hotel (45 euro - single, 58 - double). Ikea furnishings, but beautiful building. Fantastic location, close to P. del Sol, Plaza Major, etc., but not noisy. Internet access, air con and fridge in rooms! Very friendly staff.

    Hard Rock Hotel Madrid

Posted by GilesTremlett 1 August 2005

Currently being revamped and due to open in the spring of 2006, this boutique hotel is right on the Plaza de Santa Ana. It has traditionally been the bullfighters' hotel, so expect to bump into men in tight trousers and sequins during the season at Las Ventas.

    Cat's Hostel

Posted by GilesTremlett 1 August 2005

At 14-19 euros the night, it is certainly cheap. Morisco style, chill-out, weekly parties and 24 hour opening make this a desireable spot in the centre. Two to 14 beds per room.

The swimming pool on the roof of the Hotel Emperador is open to non-guests. It is expensive, but divine, with great views and has its own snack bar.

    Hotel Tryp Ambassador

Posted by RogerT 12 October 2005

We got a great deal in this 4* hotel (in October) at about 30 euro B & B. It is near the Opera (Teatro Real) and the Palacio Real and only 10 minutes walk from Sol. It is a 'business' hotel but was friendly and very helpful - and we had a huge room.

Excellent hotel: family friendly, children eat free, roof top pool. Also great if you want to check out Real Madrid; the stadium Santiago Bernabeu is across the road. Easy to find on the metro.

    Hotel Urban

Posted by madtavyboy 8 September 2005

This is a new hotel in the centre of Madrid. The best bit though is the roof terrace bar where you can sit on the white leather recliners or big cushions by the pool and watch the sun set ... or have a sharpener before heading out ... or just watch the cool young things try to out cool each other!

    Hotel Monaco

Posted by GilesTremlett 23 August 2005

A kitsch former knocking shop - ask for the room with the mirrors on the ceiling and the bath in the middle (room 20). This is where King Alfonso XIII used to meet his mistresses whenever he felt like cuckolding Queen Victoria's granddaughter, Victoria Eugenia (which was a lot, as at least three bastard children can confirm).
