A Mallorcan finca converted into a rural luxury hotel, located in the small village of Deia (well know for being the home and inspiration of Robert Graves for many years).
The hotel deco is classic but nice, and it has a good restaurant with fresh fish and local products.
I recommend it to those looking to relax (yoga classes are available) and want to visit 'the other Mallorca', not the one of sun and sangria.

I haven't been to Mallorca for around 10 years and now with two children in tow I was a bit anxious to choose somewhere family-orientated.
I ended up booking a package holiday in Majorca through Thomas Cook.
I have to say we all had a great time - the reps were great and well informed about the area we were staying in, and booking a package holiday took a lot of the stress out of it.
The Mision de San Miguel is a small chic budget hotel in the hearth of Palma (double rooms starting at 90 pound).
I really enjoyed my stay there and it's perfect for a short escapade to Palma, as it's close to Palma shopping, nightlife and restaurant areas.

A wonderfully-designed and chic hotel in the Puerto of Soller. Spacious rooms with terrace overlooking the port and a fab bistro.
Avoid if you don't like children.

This area has fantastic walking, nice drives and plenty to explore. The resort is lively, but not too lively, has great food and bars, and a great fiesta in July. Great for a family holiday.
I've put a more detailed guide up on the link belowhttp://www.seanliquorish.co.uk/blog?p=7
Very useful guide to food and wine in Mallorca.
Find more than 250 of the best restaurants, wine estates, gourmet shops and general info about gastronomy!
Birgitta from Sweden has a really cute house in central Soller, where she rents out simple but very tasteful rooms. I was recommended by a friend (it's not an official B&B, they just rent out to friends). Beds are brand new, linen freshly white and the view is quite breathtaking. And there's wireless internet. AND she's the cutest lady you can imagine.
It's on the main shopping street in Soller, c/ Luna 119. Write a nice email to Birgitta at mamasoller@hotmail.com and I'm sure you'll be welcome.
As a family we have been going to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca for the last 15 years and every year enjoy it more and more. One thing I would recommend is that you book bus transfer from Palma airport beforehand, as a taxi from the airport can be quite expensive.
If you are a fan of this brand you will love this outlet store. It's well signposted once you are in Inca, with a large car park. The styles are generally a season behind but knock down prices are amazing. This place can get pretty busy in the summer so be prepared, but at these prices it's all worth it!
My top tip for Puerto Pollensa is to take a stroll along pine walk and look out for the orange flavoured ice-creams!
Es Petit Hotel in Valldemossa is a wonderful family-run hotel in the Tramuntana. With only eight rooms, each one of them different, it provides the best choice for a relaxing break.
Excellent personal treatment, plus amazing home-made Mallorcan food, and breathtaking views.
I was charged £100 for excess luggage on my last holiday. I didn't want this to happen again so I have just bought a new gadget for weighing luggage before I get to the airport.
It cost me about £30. I also got one for my dad because he was charged £60 last October.
It should save us getting stung again.
Banyulbufar (or Bañalbufar in Spanish) has a number of excellent restaurants, particularly Son Tomas.
The village has not been taken over by tourism, although day trips to places such as Valldemossa are a must.
Off the C710 en route from Andratx to Valldemossa.
Son Borguny is a charming small hotel full of character in the village of Banyalbufar.
The two suites have spectacular views of the sea, but all the rooms have been decorated with love and attention to detail.
Penny, the owner, is a warm and helpful hostess.

A beautiful beach. Within easy distance from Cala D'Or and the sun-worshipping 'let's make like a sardine' beaches, is a way to escape the hordes at a gorgeous, wooded, white-sanded cove.
It is accessible by road and then a short walk and just along the coast from Porto Petro. Busy with families but not packed and set in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Fantastic, safe swimming/snorkeling - it gets deep quickly but very sheltered and only a short walk along the rocky path (from which you can dive in several places) to another beautiful and much quieter little beach.
Facilities include two restaurants/ bars with great reasonably-priced food and also showers. We all loved it (11 of us, ages 5- 62). We've been back there each year for the last four and never tire of it.
We went to Mallorca for 2 weeks and this was the best food we ate while we were there.
It's a small restaurant, seating maybe 20 at the most - it's business card says, Bistro, Cocina de Mercado.
The food was amazing - they have a fixed 5 course menu that changes each month for 22.50 Euros and it was just incredible: I remember mostly the caramelised pate, chicken and asparagus in filo, there was a fish dish, and a beautiful desert that had fresh strawberry or raspberry sorbet.
Much better than the restaurant at Hotel Portixol by a coutry mile or three.
I'm thinking of going back every month.

A beautiful hotel about 20 - 25 minutes stroll along the coast from the cathedral (and a 5 minute bus ride into town).
Modern but not cold or boring (Scando style).
Lovely sized rooms (enough room for a big bed and sofa). Discreet TV hifi combo, with a free DVD and CD library (good selection too).
Beautiful coastal views (amazing for the sunset).
A good bar, great breakfast, great burgers (on room service - in fact the room service food is better than the main restaurant which was a bit nouvelle).
Wonderful staff, just really super helpful.

I was really anxious organising a group holiday for several children and their families; all of which have demanding health problems.
I went with a package holiday from Thomson Holidays for the ecomonical advantage however I cannot praise them enough - their reps were well informed and supportive and thoughtful.

Each year my husband and I bundle our three children, Nathan, 15, Emily 12, and Oscar, 7, out to Magalluf, Majorca to stay with his parents.
Each year we try in vain to find something that will suit all of us and fail miserably.
This year we did our research and bought tickets for Pirates Adventure show online.
It was a brilliant child-friendly night of entertainment; amazing acrobatics for the adults, dancing girls for Nathan and slapstick larks for Emily, Oscar and the grandparents!

A small modern restaurant near the heart of Palma. Modern European cooking, reasonably priced and absolutely fanatastic flavours. Large board with specialities plus regular menu. Vegetarians catered for but the fish dishes are excellent and the sauces some of the best I have tasted. A truly memorable eating experience. Try it!
