A very nice and cozy hotel 15 km from the city. Perfect place to do walks, bicycle, visit small old towns, do parts the coastal Santiago path. Warm family treatment, great prices and good decoration for something different.

This beach on Spain's north coast has amazing sand dunes and great coastal walks with sandy beaches and dramatic outcrops of rock. A great starting place for a beautiful walk along the coast.

Frequent buses go to Liencres from Santander or its about a 10km drive west from Santander.

The north coast of Spain is much neglected but if you happen to like, say, the Yorkshire Dales (on a much bigger scale) then it's the place for you. In addition to fine mountains we also have caves with prehistoric paintings, the village where Spanish Modernism began (Comillas) and fine food.

We have lived here for ten years and would never live anywhere else. Try El Nuevo Molino in Puente Arce for excellent food and wines. Also, almost any bar will offer a Menú del Día for around €10 which includes three courses, bread and wine. Don't miss Cocido Montanés, a luscious bean stew, and very good cheeses.

A new, laid-back surf company that specialises in surf trips between the Basque country and Asturias, taking you to places unfrequented by other tourists.

For anybody who wants to start surfing or who already surfs.

Trips are done in VW camper vans and accomodation on luxury campsites in high season and hostels in low. I loved it!
